MintyBoost! - Small battery-powered USB charger

Step 21Case: Mintification

Case: Mintification
OK, now you're ready to put it in the case. Go buy a tin of Altoid gum, and eat them or give them to your friends. I think they're disgusting so don't send them to me.

You'll need the MintyBoost kit, an empty gum tin, a pair of tinsnips and two pieces of doublesided foam sticky tape (the tape is included in the kit).

Hey, I got a question! I built 2 of the kits, and at completion, my multimeter showed a continuity across both the input (at the battery case) and at the output (at the outer posts of the USB connector. I checked and checked and cannot figure if there's really a problem, or if your revision 1.1 made this happen. I've thoroughly checked every solder joint, and can find no errors, but there's still a 'short' across those two points. The things, however, seem to be putting out the 5v as advertized. Should I be worried?

hey did you make sure that you took out the batterys for this test?

Worth a note, is that many multimeters measure resistance by passing a known voltage across the leads, and measuring the flow of current. Ohm's law then allows one to calculate the resistance. A consequence of this is that if you have power in the circuit, the meter will give wonky measurements.
