Mobile Stripper Pole (no need to attach to ceiling)

Picture of Mobile Stripper Pole (no need to attach to ceiling)
Update: This pole has now been built by at least 37 people who have reported back to me.

When people own their own tools, then they are empowered. When you're done this will be a heavy but moveable dancing pole. You'll be building a base out of wood and the pole will come out of the middle of the base. If you buy the parts it should cost less than $100. This pole has been built based on these instructions by at least 37 people - you can see some pictures of the results below. It has been reported as being sturdy, but not completely solid the way it would be if you were to attach it to the ceiling., but it is mobile and it works pretty good. The first, second, and third images are specifically related to the pole I made, and the rest are variants based on the instructions given here. I have these same instructions at my page in html: How to Make a Stripper Pole

Stripper Pole Parts
# Go to your favorite hardware store
# Buy one steel plumbing pipe (for the pole) with threads on the bottom. It should be the height of your ceiling minus 5 inches and around 1 3/4 inches in diameter. They'll cut it for you at places like H. Depot. This will not be a shiny mirror color like some professional stripper poles.
# Get a flange to screw the pole into. A flange is a strong base piece that you can screw the pole into and then bolt down to the bottom piece of wood.
# Get the four nuts, bolts, and washers to attach the flange to the bottom of the stripper pole base.
# Plywood usually comes in 4'x8', so get one of those and get them to cut it in half (again, they'll do that at H. Depot for you).
# Get 12' worth of 2"x6" board. Cut it into two 4' pieces, one 1' piece, and two 1 1/2' pieces.
# You'll want a drill with a bit the same size as the bolts for the flange.
# Get some 2 1/2" nails or whatever you have lying around. You might also want a hammer or your brother's head.
# If you want the pole to be more sturdy, get a bunch of bricks or flat-cinder-blocks to put in the base.

I want buy this...where???

There is a different between a Pole Dancing Pole and a Stripper Pole. Pole Dancing is a strenuous art form. Most (not all) strippers can't Pole Dance, they just dance with a pole, usually just grinding at it. Does this Mobile Pole accommodate Pole Dancing? Or just Stripper Dancing? I need to know I won' end up hurting myself when I invert on it.

Does the top platform just rest on top? I didn't see. I want the platform to be able to open so I can take the weights out, is that possible?
wakeupsilver (author)  singthesoul5 years ago
The side of the platform is "always open" so that's how the weights go in and out.

Hello. I am next on building the stripper platform. I actually have a question... I bought the cheap Peek a boo stripper pole at Spencers. This pole is so dangerous that it really is only intended for people who do not know how to do any real moves at all. So, I was thinking of building this platform and within the platform sinking it into concrete. This pole has a plastic base and is made out of chrome. Do you think this will work? How much concrete do you think I will need to use? (I can't go the metal flange route) Anyways, I may just be being paranoid? in wanting it to be extra sturdy as I do alot of inverted  and swinging moves and do not want to land on my neck like in the youtube videos.

Sexy..... But you look like a married man. If you took these pictures from your parties, wouldn't that be cheating on your wife?
wakeupsilver (author)  Camisado7 years ago
Hi. First of all I am a married man. Second of all that party was years ago when I was somewhat of a different person and wasn't a married man. Third of all, that IS my wife.
LOL!!! That's classic :) I love the way you put that.

grats on the enthusiastically adventurous wife :)
Oh, OK then. Sorry if I offended you or anything

"Mum, can you help me load my stripper pole into your car"

i built this same pole a few months back in november...what i decided was to have the weight evenly centered. i bought 5-50lb bags of play sand at lowe's. the sand cost between $1.50 and $2.50 a bag. well, i only used 3 bags becuase it filled the base pretty quickly. my base is 4ft by 4ft. it works great. its movable still. i push myself without any help. and very sturdy.

If I put flat cinderblocks in the base, it'll be damn heavy. Any suggestions on how to make it removable? I imagine four of them at the corners, I'm just worried about issue on transport...and hoping having an 8-10 foot pole and the base in my car at all times is pragmatic

put casters on the bottom, and I can see the pitch for this one: "ROLL-A-POLE..for the stripper on the go."
wakeupsilver (author)  copycat427 years ago
Acually, I did make one recently and put wheels on the bottom. then i attached pillow stuffing to the base, and branches to the top with spider plants hung at the end of them. I ended up with a mobile "friendship tree" see here:

hope to make an instructable for this soon.

Man. Your parties are a lot better than mine. Is it because of The Pole, or because of dudes in shiny pants grabbing their crotches (or possibly only referencing grabbing their crotches)?

It's a classy lady that will strip on a mobile stripper pole, apparently on the run, and at the drop of a hat. I like the tazer idea. At least then there is a certain amount of suspense.
I like this idea in that it might encourage the inner sl*t in some of those more TRULY classy ladies. I know our lifestyle doesn't allow for a stripper-pole to be sitting in sight where everyone from the office can spy it at those boring old parties we have to throw (although it might make them more interesting, depending on who is willing to get up there). However, I'm thinking a little drink, an easily "hid" pole and a lot of goading might make for a fun night at home, if she's up to it. Any ideas from anyone on making it a bit more "mobile" or easily deconstructed?
yeah castors, retractable ones... or a cross shaped base that may be taken apart at will, out doors could be easy, pitch your tent, your pole and finally and extra tent... like ground hooks in the arms or a cross (think deep hooks on hard ground though cos mudfights and stripper poles are best kept for seperate nights to avoid any extra cleaning up)
wakeupsilver (author)  kirnex7 years ago
You should be able to unscrew the pole any time you want and store the pole and base seperately.
Excellent. Sounds like it could fit under the bed well. Thanks!
this is defo comin to the halloween party... think two pole eight feet apart and the possibility of appl bobbing in between
