Keep a Tommy 20 From Jamming

Step 6Final Thoughts

Final Thoughts
I thought a little more on other ways to improve this gun. Mainly, I modded mine for the purpose of preventing it from jamming, and improving it's shooting capability. I'm pretty certain that if you want a higher rate of fire (x shots per second), all you need is more batteries. I think you should try one to two more AA batteries (wire a new battery holder), and look for an increase of speed of the darts, as well as a faster spinning of the rotating barrel. Don't add too many batteries though, or you could possibly fry your motors. And then it wouldn't be my fault, because I told you not to do it.

You could possibly open up the back of the gun, and on the bottom of the circular piece of plastic that houses the green rotating drum, glue a nut around the hole on half of the plastic. This will allow you to attach a flashlight, dart container, tripod (for a mounted gun), etc.

You could also cut a few holes in the handle of the gun, put in a separate battery pack, and install white LEDs, a laser pointer (make sure you install a way to calibrate/adjust it)-although, it wouldn't be necessary the way it shoots (unless you've upped the voltage), or possibly install a back-up battery pack that re-routes the power to the motors by turning the original pack off, and the back up pack on.

There might possibly even be room on top of the gun for a scope or sighting device of some sort-but again, it might not be necessary. If you do mount anything on top, allow clearance for the front of the gun to swing around for reloading.

I strongly advise further mods, changes, add-ons, etc (unlike my dad). If anyone has anything (constructive) to say about this mod, gun, project, instructable, or anything in general, please leave a comment below!

Also, I did promise an illustration of me using this gun. Check it out.
