Model of DNA Condensation by ChrysN

In the lab that I work at we are currently making and Ipad app.  It will be an educational application to use as a reference for the tests that we run in our lab as well as having some background information about genetics and molecular biology.  We needed some images to use in the application; there was the option of paying an artist or graphic designer or try to make them ourselves.

One of the sections that needed images was the part on DNA condensation, also called DNA packaging.  I was playing with the idea of creating my own drawing, or do something on the computer. Looking for inspiration I did a Google image search and found quite a few images describing DNA condensation.  However I did notice that there are no physical models.  This got me thinking, rather then trying to draw something, I could make a physical model and photograph it. I at first thought to make it from clay, but I realized I enjoy working with yarn much more.  So here is my Model of DNA Condensation.  I include some educational information too, in case you would rather learn about DNA condensation than make a model of it.
