Anything like a PC Mobo will be RoHS anyway. TBQH Risk of lead from solder is very minimal, unless you eat the stuff.

Here's a thought: I make chainmaille all the time, and you could just connect the pieces with metal links. Take some of the heavier wire out of your junk parts, wind it around something small and round, and cut off rings. These can be easily twisted open with pliers, stuck through the adjacent holes, and closed again, and they should hold for ages. A similar technique has been used to connect jointed armor plates.

Man, this is what I really can call a piece of art. Techky-art. I can wait to go to the next formal meeting to ask my companion to wear a pair of south-bridge earrings and a matching P4 bracelet. MSI has a great looking purple and red Mobos. Well done!

I followed the instructions here, but used elastic, and I also lined the back of each piece with a thin- but durable- rubber cutout (I found the rubber at an electronics store) so that lead and other toxic chemicals sometimes found in computer parts virtually won't have the potential to get into the bloodstream by touching the skin for long periods of time.

Using a clear epoxy on your pieces first, before drilling would do well to seal anything in, and keep the ceramic/plastic edges of any chips used from breaking off.

o.o I did this just a few days ago before ever seeing this but this is much better than what I made. If your careful you can make the parts still work. I had a working mp3 player, Giga pet, laser, and camcorder on mine. Although they don't last long with the rigors of everyday life. Great Instructable =D

I wonder if using a power slot connector or similar motherboard connector would work as a bracelet clasp?..May have to try that one out

For the joints, I used a an old small caliber chain, Sort of a hobby type chain that can be bought at places like Rona, Home Depot, Home Hardware (or if you want to pay twice what its worth - Bedrock supplies ;-) ) and for cutting the bits, and sanding, I found that a dremmel tool can be your best friend! For people who wnat to buy new tools I would suggest buying: 1. a dedicated dremmel saw with dremmel sidearm 2. a drill press 3. diamond cutter bits for the dremmel, they can cut through anything! I also made a similar type using old 16 k memory sticks, they are already about the right width and only need to be cut for spacing, I would suggest using one Horizontaly positioned type and one vertically posistioned type so the modules are not all facing in the same direction...this is particularily cool for watch straps.

a small drill press would make drilling the hole easier just need to make a small corner jig to aline them in when eou drill the hole
