Mouse Trap car

Step 13 GO!!

Tap the trigger and watch it go. Readjust the wheels (which are a bit flimsy with the low-rent balloon support) to get them straighter and retry. It's not very crash resistant, not very pretty, but very easy to make and can, if you're me, be built entirely out of things you can reach from your work chair (yes, that included having an old pack of mouse traps on my shelf).

mine didn't move at first too- make sure you wound the string up the right way and make sure your wheels are straight

i have a project do in two days does this really work? And in my class there using the straight part of a coat hanger and tieing the string to that and winding it to the bottom by the wheels. why dontt they do that here?? is this relyable

 What did you use the bottle caps for?? MINE ISNT WORKING AT ALL.... ITS GOING THE SAME DISTANCE EVERY TIME BECAUSE OF THE STRING.... is there anything i can do to make it go further??

I did everything but when I triggered the trap, the string unraveled slightly and the car went almost nowhere....HELP!!!!

I used straws for both of my axels and my car ran just fine. It actually made certain segments of it easier, such as getting the string through the hole.

About how long should the string be?

I think I used about two foot. There's no real penalty for having the string too long (unless it's absurdly much too long) though.

How do I make it go faster?

Width of the axle and size of wheels change the gear ratio. It's already geared quite heavily toward speed (as opposed to distance) though, I'm not sure how easy it would be to maintain traction. Play around some and see I guess.
