Player Indicator mod

This mod is easy but very hard all at the same time. You'll see what I mean.
I have a shortage of pictures for this mod as i can't do a new one so i have to use the one i have already done as a reference. I will do my best to set you on your way.

list :
1 Wiimote
4 SMD LEDs (0603)
Tri-wing screwdriver
Soldering iron with solder
Magnifier glass (if you have trouble looking at small items)
Desoldering Braid
Tweezers

First take apart your wiimote. Then locate your player indicator leds at the bottom of the wiimote. If you have trouble finding them put some batterys in the wiimote and press home, you'll find them trust me.

Secondly take your desoldering braid and desolder leds 2-4. (if your worried you might not be able to do this mod remove player's 4 led and try to installed your smd led on it)

Once you get them desoldered take out your smd leds. To put the leds on put some solder on your iron (tiny bit!) and place your iron onto one side of the pad and use the tweezers to slide your new led into place. To find out what side is pos and neg of the leds is beyond me, so just do some testing and your get it. It might take some time to do this mod, just make sure not to get mad and don't burn your pads.

Ask for any help if needed.

Man, this is great. You don't happen to live in the Dallas area, do you? I'd pay to have someone mod my controllers for me (hardly any soldering experience). I may give it a shot anyway, though.

Hi, Thank you for these awesome mods! I can't wait to apply it to my 4 wii remotes. I'm now shopping for LEDs (for the player indicator mods) but I'm not sure what voltage to take. I see LEDs with 2.0V to 3.2V. I believe the brightness will change with a different voltage, and I just want something with a brightness similar to the original LEDs. What voltage should I use?

Hi,

If you want to, you can add this to the Nintendo group. It's aimed at gathering all mods/hacks/builds that are related to Nintendo.

~N93.

Also, I want to do this but don't want to break it. :(
