Musubi is a delicious anytime eat that sounds absolutely crazy. Do not let the ingredients dissuade you from trying this recipe. The first time I made it my wife and kids saw Spam and immediately said "That sounds disgusting, I'm not trying that". After a little coaxing and name calling they tried it. Since then my kids ask me to make it all the time, and when I do it gets gone real fast.

Step 1: Ingredients:

The first thing you need to find is a Musubi press. You can find one of these easily enough, either online or at your local Asian market in the sushi making area. They usually cost anywhere between 2-5 bucks.

1. 1 can teriyaki flavored Spam. If you can't find teriyaki Spam no sweat, just buy plain Spam and teriyaki sauce.
2. 8 eggs.
3. Nori seaweed wrap.
4. Sushi rice.
5. Rice wine vinegar.

Step 2: Let's Get Cooking

First you need to cut your can of Spam into 8 even sections.
Then pan fry your spam over medium heat. You do not need to add oil. Spam is fatty enough not to stick. Make sure to fry it until you get a nice crust on the outside.
After you are done with the Spam set aside and start on your eggs. Make sure to beat your eggs before pouring them into your pan. Once you have cooked your eggs use your Musubi press to cut your eggs into the correct size. I will not patronize you by explaining to you how to cook rice (instructions are on the back of the bag). I will tell you however that once your rice is done pour some rice wine vinegar over it and then fluf it up good. After you are done with all the cooking you will need to rip your sheets of Nori in half.

Step 3: Let's Wrap It Up!

Okay now your ready to assemble.
Step one: place press in center of your Nori.
Step two: put enough rice in the press to make a 1/4 inch layer and press it down.
Step three: put in your slice of Spam and egg.
Step four: put another 1/4 inch layer of rice and press again.
Step five: while applying slight pressure remove press.
Step six: dip your fingers in a glass of water and moisten the end of your Nori. Then wrap it up.
Step seven: pick it up and put into mouth. Chew. Savor. Finish the rest and hide them from everyone else.

Step 4: Make It Yours

So I have given you the very basics of making Musubi. Now make it yours and give it a twist. I like to add all kinds of things inside the Musubi such as bacon, green onions, sriracha hot sauce, etc, etc. the possibilities are endless. This is my first instruct able so I hope you like it. If you do make this recipe please let me know how you liked it and gods sake let me know what you did to make it your own.

Thanks for sharing. Congratulations on your first instructalbe and welcome to the community! I'm excited to see what other things you come up with and share!
