Introduction: My Experience With YardYum
So, you want to start a garden, but you have no space to do it? That was me a few months ago. Then I discovered YardYum. It's a website that connects home owners with gardeners. In other words, you can garden in someone else's yard, in exchange for money or some of the crops you grow :)
Step 1: Getting Started
First you need to signup at https://yardyum.com/sign-up. Then fill out your profile as best as you can. Having more info, along with a picture, will help other members feel more comfortable chatting with you.
Step 2: Search for Available Plots
Next, head to the Gardeners > Search Listings page and try to find available garden space near you.
Step 3: Contact the Owner
When you find a plot that looks good, contact the owner, start a conversation. If all goes well, they'll invite you to their house to look at the garden plot. Then you can figure out the details. In my case, we decided on a 50/50 split of what I grew. And I was fortunate that they were only a few blocks away from my house.
Step 4: Start Gardening!
This is the best part! Time to exercise your green thumb :) I grew some super delicious tomatoes, amongst other veggies.
