Step 4: El tubo de aire (the air pipe)


El fuego de la fragua debe recibir un flujo de aire para incrementar el calor del carbón. Usé un trozo de unos 40 cm de caño de hierro de 3/4 de pulgada, que en su momento fue galvanizado y ahora es casi un montón de óxido, pero que para el caso sirve perfectamente. Para conectarlo a la base no usé un codo sino una T, por la razón que explico en el paso siguiente.

The fire of the forge must receive a flow of air to increase the heat of the coal. I used a piece of some 40 cm of 3/4 inch iron pipe, which years ago was galvanized and now is almost a heap of rust, but for the case serves well. To connect to the base I didn't use an elbow but a T, for the reason explained in the next step.
