I did not know a single stick may be a slingshot. Does it work well? Nice job, Anton, but please, don't kill birds.

Yes we have 'single sticks' in our place but our projectiles are different. We use an improvised arrow and not stones or marbles or bearings. For the arrows, we use 6 inch nails with flattened tips designed into arrowheads and 'feathered' tails. We fabricate a catch in the arrowhead and this will be hooked to the sling in shooting. We call them 'Indian Pana'. :-)

Any photo, please?

Here's a sample. However, using yarn as 'feather' is not a good idea since it might get tangled in the process of shooting causing the arrow to swing back at the shooter. Its better to use hemp. :-)

Been a long time since I've seen a sling bow

Maybe usign less yarn (1/2 or 1/3 quantity) the effect could be better and safer. Nice idea, anyway.

Interesting, thanks.

You're welcome. These slingshots are used by gangs in my country. When 'laced' with poison, its devastating. :-)
rimar2000 in reply to Pasky95Nov 9, 2011. 7:41 AM
Oh, that must be terrible. In addition, the harpoon tip dart itself is frightening.
sharlston in reply to rimar2000May 13, 2009. 7:41 AM
why not kill birds?
rimar2000 in reply to sharlstonMay 13, 2009. 8:40 AM
Because "a bird flying worth over a hundred in hand"
corey_caffeine in reply to rimar2000Jun 9, 2009. 1:38 AM
a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush
corey_caffeine in reply to corey_caffeineJun 9, 2009. 1:38 AM
but the bird in your hand WILL peck you
sharlston in reply to rimar2000May 13, 2009. 9:06 AM
what u mean?
Anton1995 (author) in reply to rimar2000May 19, 2008. 12:42 PM
It work well as a normal slingshoot. And I will newer kill birds.

Nice work. I would also recommend putting a cloth between the rubber and the branch before tying them with a rubber band (do not use string). The sharp or coarse surface of the branch will eventually produce cuts in your rubber and you don't want this to happen. The cloth prevents this from taking place. :-)

Great work! I am making one out of scrap from a shopping cart and old rubber exercise tubing
carlg14 says: Sep 8, 2008. 11:24 AM
have you tried using the metal bit of a bicycle seat underneath it for the sling shot instead of wood
sharlston in reply to carlg14Jun 6, 2009. 2:25 AM
i tried it for a pocket sized slingshot and it works really well thanks

How far do they fire?
Anton1995 (author) in reply to Wolf SerilMay 19, 2008. 12:45 PM
about 30 meters(100 fets)
rimar2000 in reply to Anton1995May 13, 2009. 8:48 AM
I think the shot is greater than 30 meters, much more.

Unless you refer to the effective shot.
