: oak blade, poplar handle and pommel, hand carved bass guard, routed blood groove. the completing steps would be: spray with grain filler, spray blade high gloss silver, spray pommel and guard low gloss or flat silver spray enamel entirely with enamel, glue guard to base of blade,and then sew the faux leather onto the handle

reminds me of a sword from lord of the rings, can't remember the owner of the sword though, my brother has a metal version of this sword

Very nice! Laminated wooden wasters are structurally strong and beautiful. I commend you on your work! If you were interested in making a waster of a more realistic weight and balance to a real sword, you could consider adding lead weights.

Looks really nice, congrats. I was just reading an instructable on how to make a Japanese bokken, wondering if that would work for an European sword. : ) Two questions: 1) You used one plank of wood, and that's it, or glued two pieces together? 2) How did you put the handle?
