Making the Buttons Click
Take the two rubber bits you found under the directional pad and face buttons and make little cardboard cutouts of them, these will essentially be playing the same role as the hard "motherboard" that sat inside the controller, and will give the buttons something to click off of. I colored my cardboard purple so as to not stick out when seen through the transparent controller.
