I built the NAR, and modded it. The main mods I have made are to the forebarrel and grip area, and the stock. I liked the handle connection points, but the stock itself was too flimsy, even with the hinge inside the handle strengthener mod, so I encased it completely. The main goal was to encase, and add bendy rods to the back of the stock, and I that is what I did. I worked on the stock for about an hour, 40 minute build time (building my stock) and the other 20 minutes to perfect it, and this is what I have.
The forebarrel is much stronger, because I added an extra snowflake connector so the yellow rods can't slide around, and to the foregrip, I found it bit into my hand so I half snapped in red rods, to smoothen it over. It has a new trigger band placement, which is very simple, but still makes a good strong trigger pull, all I did was loop a #32 around the trigger, then around the front of the foregrip. I usually have 5 #64 bands on it, so it can punch through 4 layers of cardboard, and it gets 150ft with finned ammo. This is my primary, and the MeZak is my secondary. I might post, but you could probably build it from the pics. If you need help, I'll post another pic with a layer off it.

I built the NAR, put 16 bands on it, and I shot at my friend with it at like 10 feet away, and it just barely missed his neck. Imagine what would happen if it hit him...

Mine got about 150 ft with 4 #64 bands.

Isn't this website "INSTRUCTABLES" not "LOOK AT WHAT I MADE-ABLES"?!

every instructable is actualy an ''LOOK AT WHAT I MADE-ABLE" in some way

Yep it is. Some people could use these pics to mod their own NAR if they wanted to though.

Dude, maybe the gun ia reliable and all other stuff, but it's a single shot. I don't like single shots, they take way too long to reload.
~Aeronous~ (author) in reply to erikos kostarikosAug 11, 2010. 5:29 PM
Have you ever heard of the NAR? It is the most powerful gun ever made, the fact that it is single shot doesn't take anything away from it. It has a 1.5 second reload time, with a range of 450ft.

that's over one kilometre ...

Mine didn't shoot 450 feet and I had 7 bands on the gun at the time of filming.

Lowney in reply to ~Aeronous~Oct 26, 2010. 2:40 PM
No it can't. I have nothing against the NAR, I think it's actually a pretty nice gun. But 450ft is too far. It's physically impossible to get that range with a ram rod gun because too much energy is lost when transferring power from the band to the ram to the barrel sides to the mini "NAR ram" to the bullet. It just doesn't work. That's why slingshots have always shot further, MUCH less friction in those. So basically unless you actually PROVE the NAR shoots 450ft, you're probably misinformed.
~Aeronous~ (author) in reply to LowneyAug 4, 2011. 1:18 AM
What if it shot the ramrod? I know it has been done before but not very well OR made to a high quality other than just to test the theory.
Lowney in reply to ~Aeronous~Aug 4, 2011. 2:37 AM
What do you mean by "what if it shot the ramrod?"
TheFoofinator in reply to LowneyAug 4, 2011. 6:38 AM
He means something like this
~Aeronous~ (author) in reply to TheFoofinatorAug 7, 2011. 5:45 AM
You (Lowney) said that ramrod/firing pin guns can't reach that range because too much kinetic energy is lost through the transition of the force from the ramrod to the bullet. If it shot the ramrod then none of the force would be lost.

My NAR did NOT shoot 450 feet in the video. I can't even get it over 300 angled. I had 7 bands on it, which is more than what you have.
182515 in reply to DJ RadioSep 14, 2010. 12:28 PM
I was the one who said that i had shot 400 feet with 15 bands not 7.
DJ Radio in reply to 182515Oct 24, 2010. 8:35 PM
He is referring people to my video when asked for proof that it shoots 450, implying that he thinks it shoots over 400 in my video which it clearly did not.

You do realize that the trigger you had on your NAR is old and out dated. The NAR I have has Killerk's new stock design,a rail on the bottom of the barrel so I can snap on killerk's tr-series fore grips, killerk's current trigger(the new trigger on his current tr-8 project),a row of white snowflakes(so I can put on a vertical foregrip,a bipod, mount a lazer-beam for accuracy,or mount on a halogen flashlight to see in the dark. I also have the Nar that ZAK made and put up on his you tube page about a year ago(like January,2010 or something like that) I built it from his video, wasn't too hard. That thing is scary as hell too.Shot clean through 4 sheets of 3/4'' plywood and the rod was still going,it put a big hole the size of a plastic bead in the wall behind the 4 sheets of plywood and splintered the wall with wood chips in the process( the ZNAR is one phenomenal weapon of mass destruction) and this only happened with 17 bands on the pin with un-sharpened fin ammo. And if you think that's nothing, then this will put you in the shocker while I shoot some stew in your britches! I don't think anyone has come across this kind of NAR before. In other words, what I'm trying to say is that I think I've stepped onto something HUGE,bigger than what we've known the NAR as being one of the deadliest k'nex guns in the history of the k'nex era.The ZNAR is more powerful and much more lethal than the NAR because of somthing about the way ZAK had built it,the design or the way it was constructed made it have the ability to withstand more friction than a standard NAR. Anyway, the gun I discovered is called the TNARRC(turreted not a rectangle ractcheted crossbow)and whether you believe such a gun is possible to be this powerful or not,it is 2 times more powerful than killerk's SRv2,just not as big,and is capable of replacing both the NAR and the ZNAR,without a moments hesitation. If disaggree on the behalf of my part then let me know, and explain why.just know you'll be wrong if you do.
