This is my NAR pistol. If you dont know what a NAR is, here is the basic definition.

"The "Not A Rectangle", otherwise known as "Untangle" or simply "NAR" is easily the best single shot in terms of range due to the power transfer at the front. Because this is the only needed feature of the gun, it also makes the NAR very customisable and therefore you can change your NAR to the extreme. With enough work, you could make the gun look however you like."(by the Jamalam)

With that said, here is my NAR pistol

pros:
high range and power(100+ft)
incredible accuracy
shots any rod
huge gun (dont know if this is a con or pro)
comfortable grip
good sights
looks beast (looks kinda like a gun from gears of war but im not sure which one)

cons:
single shot
makes your hands bleed while making it

i do not plan of posting this gun, but that doesn't mean i wont

                                          EDIT:

i have pics of the basic NAR concept (pic 7 & 8)

Block Trigger?
wabawaba in reply to geodezSep 21, 2011. 4:12 PM
no the trigger is true and it locks back in the back.

I see.

Okay, so I built a handful of energy transfer mechs very similar to this and none of them increased range. They were all complete failures. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong. Do you know what the theory behind the cause of the alleged range increase is? If not, that's okay, but my tests conclude that this system doesn't affect range.
GrandeSwag in reply to OblivitusMay 6, 2011. 4:35 PM
You're correct. It's not supposed to increase range by any means directly. It is supposed to increase the number of rubber bands a knex gun can handle by transferring the force of the firing pin to the ball socket. Other methods of doing this haven't been strong enough to take the force of a lot of bands.
Oblivitus in reply to GrandeSwagMay 7, 2011. 5:55 PM
Okay, thanks for the info. But are you saying that it allows you to put on more bands in the sense of structural stability?, or do you mean that it allows the power from extra bands to be better transferred into the bullet?
GrandeSwag in reply to OblivitusMay 7, 2011. 8:10 PM
Allows for more bands because the pin is harder to break.
Oblivitus says: May 2, 2011. 7:11 PM
Looks good. What's this power transfer thing that makes it have such long range?
poptart64 (author) in reply to OblivitusMay 2, 2011. 8:45 PM
in the front, there's a little chamber (on pic 4) and in the chamber is a loose ball socket. that's where it passes the power from the pin to the ammunition, and then stopping it from going any further.
Oblivitus in reply to poptart64May 3, 2011. 7:02 PM
You know, I can't seem to find any pictures of that. Would you mind doing me a big favor and taking a good photo or two of it so I can see how it works?
poptart64 (author) in reply to OblivitusMay 3, 2011. 7:57 PM
i have added new pictures of the whole concept of the NAR, also if you want, i have the original NAR:

Oblivitus in reply to poptart64May 5, 2011. 6:16 AM
Thank you very much. So there's no bullet lock on the ammo? Do bullets fall out of the barrel if you tip the gun?
TheFoofinator in reply to OblivitusMay 6, 2011. 11:58 AM
There is a bullet lock on the original. I can't believe you have never built it!
poptart64 (author) in reply to TheFoofinatorMay 6, 2011. 2:58 PM
really? i have never seen it on it on any models, probably because i really never checked.
TheFoofinator in reply to poptart64May 7, 2011. 10:12 AM
There are 2 inverted red connectors that hold in the bullet at the front. They have their own layer.
poptart64 (author) in reply to OblivitusMay 5, 2011. 2:45 PM
ya, but bullet usually holds from friction unless you aim directly down or at a steep angle.
Oblivitus in reply to poptart64May 3, 2011. 5:13 AM
Oh, cool. I'll have to look into that design.

All this is is the NAR without a stock.
