Introduction: NGK Iridium Spark Plugs on 06-11 Civic Si

This instructable is to show you to change the stock spark plugs on a 06 - 11 Civic Si
I wanted to post this instructions, since when I wanted to make this change there was no manual, no details no information at all.
I searched the intent, forums, blogs, etc and there was no guidance whatsoever on how to change the spark plugs on a 06 -11 Civic Si.

So here it is...

Step 1:

First you need to get to know your engine and know what is what to avoid any problems
1. Remove the i-Vtec logo plastic cover

Step 2:

Have the right tools at hand.
You will need:
1. Standard spark plug wrench
2. Ratchet
3. ratchet extensions 15 cm for this model to be able to teach the spark plugs (they are way below, on top of the pistons)

Step 3: BEWARE!!

Just so you are aware I included this STEP

CAUTION, do not do this step.
By mistake i removed the injector electricity, nothing happened, but if anything gets broken or damaged you will be in trouble

The black plastic rail you see are the injector electric connector
the metal strip with a tube is the gasoline injection to the injectors (be careful not to touch that for this application)

Step 4: PTitle This Step

1. remove the black plastic rectangle strip on the back
2. Now we see the spark plug connectors

As you can see you can barely fit you had between the connector and the metal topping, there is no way to fit a wrench over there, so up next is the trick to this! ;)

Step 5:

1. remove the big plastic cover that has the water nozzles. don't worry its by pressure, just pull with a strong single movement and you will release it. Release it and disconnect the water nozzles.

After you remove the plastic part, you will see a metal black panel that physically avoids getting the the spark plugs

2. remove the black metal panel, it has several screws, 10 and 12 wrench, you will need to maneuver your hand to get on some tight spots, but its doable.

Now we can reach the spark plugs

Before:  Image 3     :(
After:      Image 4     :)

Step 6:

Disconnect the electric connector of the spark plugs.
Put the long wrench with the extension all the way down and un-screw the spark plugs
As you can see my ratchet barely fitted alllll the way down (make sure you have enough extensions to make your ratchet fit)

CAUTION:

The spark plugs need to to be ignited on a specific sequence on your car
On this model the connector are attached to a rod and you can not change the order
If by any chance you are on another vehicle and the connectors are individual and separate draw a diagram of the connection order to reconnect them on the same way or YOU WILL HAVE trouble and you car will not work as the ignition will be all messed up.

Step 7:

Put in the new spark plugs and screw them in

Step 8:

Re-attach the electric connectors to the spark plugs

Step 9:

Put the black cover in

Note the image on the screws for each plug:
1 and 3 are screwed below the plastic cover
2 and 4 are screwed above to also hold the plastic cover

So all 4 are screwed, don't think you missed 2 screws. ;)

Step 10:

Put the black metal panel back

Step 11:

Put the plastic cover back
Remember to attach the water lines for the nozzles
screw everything back together and make sure everything is as when you started

Step 12:

Put the plastic i-Vtec logo cover on

Step 13: Ride On!

Ride on!
That's what you have in know! :)
