Introduction: NOISE FROM TOYS (part II)
Today we will change the connection scheme from the previous instruction in such a way that it is possible to connect its signal and signal from another toy.
Few year ago I start my experiments with Circuit bending and wanted to mix the signal from different toys to get more noise, but I could not do it without using a special audio mixer.. That result was very sad for me, because I could not afford to use a high-quality audio mixer, others of them did not give the result that I desired at the time of connection.
I broke and burned dozens toys to find the connection option, which will be described here, but.. As a result of this experience has been detected this way: without an expensive sound mixer and with a new wonderful noise after connection.
I want to continue our experiment with toys and create more impression noise with you.
Let's start! (:
Step 1: ...
Last time we were able to distort the musical sample was recorded in a microchip from a broken toy. We replaced resistor, installing additional "noise buttons". Another resistor we added to the circuit and got an excellent noise at the output.
To continue our experiment we will need the same tools and parts as in the previous time. Maybe we'll have to use something else, who knows.? All microchips in small and cheap toys are similar, but it's never possible to imagine what a surprise can be in each of them and what unexpected twists can happen.. Let's begin an experiment.!
Instruments and parts:
- Soldering iron;
- Drill of various diameters (0.6-1.2mm ~ 8-20mm);
- Screwdrivers; It is desirable to have a power supply for 3-9 volts, but you can use the batteries that come with the toy;
- Wires for connection and soldering;
- Potentiometers for different value (1 Ohm ~ 1 M Ohm or biggest);
We still need your imagination too..
Step 2: Preparation of the Previous Microchip
It is necessary to disconnect all the wires again to find a way to connect them using the new scheme. We will prepare that for connection under a new scheme and will allow us to connect our several microchips together. As a result, new sounds of noise can come out, who knows.?
In the new scheme, we will use the minus supply directly to the output of the signal, which will allow us to avoid a short circuit .. It's such a simple way that it's even funny, but .. I lost a lot of microchips to find and apply this.. This is a sad fact, because some of them had an impressive noise inside..
The pictures shows the old scheme of connection of the microchip and a new scheme of its connection. As a result, we can see that the power is divided and plus went to the microchip itself, and the minus (ground) power we connected to the audio output.
Let's hear.?! (:
Step 3: Another Toys for Noise
I found at flea-market this another toys. That is a broken Fighting Vehicle and Robot toys. Their musical microchips were in perfect order. Moreover, when I listened to their sound, I understood that it would be possible to connect them and it should be good!
We remove all the wires and can read the writing on the Robot microchip. When I turned it on, I immediately found the correct resistor. Unfortunately, this again turned out to be a SMD resistor, which is too small and it is very difficult to work with it. Alas.
The broken Fighting Vehicle also had a microchip and it also worked well. The resistor was not available at all, but there was a conclusion on it on the board and the inscription R1. To check it turned out that all this sounds great when we prepare and connect them together with other microchips under the new scheme.
Step 4: Preparation Мicrochip and Their Connections Scheme
During the preparation of microchips, we still used parts from Arduino. Connecting and listening to them again we got amazing noise.
When to prepare a microchip from the Robot, I decided to try one solution I found. The fact is that on the robot board were installed some additional radio components and this gave me hope for more interesting signal variants.
Once, in the course of my experiments, I found that connecting to a circuit of capacitors gives a change in sound. After that I came to the store of radio components and asked to give me different capacitors of random capacity.
Some of these capacitors we now use on the scheme taken from the Robot. I found a button that can switch to three positions and randomly selected three capacitors.
Lets listen to what happened with his sound now .!
Step 5: Final Connection and Test
As you can guess, now it's enough for us to simply mix our signals, which at the output .. Since the minus supply goes directly to the output of the signal, the connected circuit will look something like this ..
And .. Noise ..
When I hear sounds like these, then my imagination .. My fantasy paints the reactions that occur when dividing the nucleus in the Sterne, gravitational waves and the displacement of Time .. Space .. The interconnection of phenomena .. All this should be accompanied by similar sounds .. In my Imagination ..
But .. Let's leave my imagination aside .. We are now it remains to put together all this components inside first toy ..
You can make clear or create something superfine
Step 6: ...
It should be noted that there is another way to connect toys and I would like to share it too. The fact is that it is not necessary to combine these in one package and you can connect them together in a chain .. With such a connection, you can achieve a completely different effect. In addition, having a sufficient number of such prepared toys, you can safely replace, supplement them and thereby create some sort of show and maybe next part of instruction we create something or maybe someone will do it himself.? (:
Each of the connection options has its drawbacks and advantages. For example, the way we connected them together in one package gives us the opportunity to find more connection points between them. Free contacts can be connected to each other and to find even more noise as a result. Such a resultant toy will be very difficult to control, but noise as a result can be impressive.
I hope that the result of our experimenter will be interesting and useful.
Happy new noise!
We have a be nice policy.
Please be positive and constructive.
