Introduction: Needle Felted Pocket Buddies

These needle felted dolls are fun and easy to make. All you need is some wool roving, a needle felting pad, and a felting needle! When you finish your adorable felted friend you'll have someone to keep you company in your pocket! I hope you enjoy these simple instructions on how to create your pocket buddies!

Step 1: Shape the Body of Your Pocket Buddy

The first thing you need to do to create a pocket buddy is take a piece of neutral/skin colored roving (i'm using brown in this case) and roll it a few times in between your palms until it makes a hotdog shape.

Insert the needle into the felt repeatedly  until it hardens but you can still squish it. Then shape it into the torso figure shown below.

Step 2: Making the Head

Take another piece of the same color roving and again, roll it between your palms but this time go in a circular motion so it make a ball. Stab it with the needle until it is the same texture as the body( hard but you can still squish it so it moves slightly)

Step 3: Arms and Legs

To make the limbs of your pocket buddy take another pice of roving about the same size as the head and separate it into four equal pieces.make four tiny hot dog shapes by rolling them in your hands and lightly tapping the needle into them. If you are making a boy pocket buddy them make the legs the color you want the pants to be then add a small rectangle at the top.

Step 4: Clothes

Your pocket buddy needs to be dressed in style. Pick out a color for your pocket buddy's dress but make sure you pull it out in a small sheet so we can wrap it around the doll's body like a tunic.
Once you do this poke the body so the sheet of felt sticks to it and looks like a dress. (if you are making a boy follow these steps but wrap the felt around the top of your figure's torso.)

Step 5: Giving Your Doll Character

Now its time for your buddy to get a face and hair. Get two tiny black pieces of roving, roll them into separate balls and attach them to the dolls head as eyes with your needle. You can add a mouth the same way but i personally think they look better without one.

For your doll's hair you can pick any color and just poke part of it to the top of its head and leave the rest how ever you want.

Step 6: Attaching Limbs

put the arms of your doll where you think they would be on a human and poke them into the dolls body until they stay. Do the same thing to the legs and head.

Step 7: Enjoy Your Pocket Buddy and Give It a Name!

Now all you have to do is stick your pocket buddy in your pocket and take it everywhere with you! Make sure to give him/her a name.
Enjoy your pocket buddy and hopefully this instructable helped you  and improved your needle felting skills!
