First homemade airsoft gun!

there are some other guys out here that have done basically this project, but mine has some important differences and advantages.
1. my project leaves your gun still able to fire stock nerf darts or stephans.
2. my project has greater accuracy
3. I have taken this project the extra distance, the completed project sports a 3' barrel and has a muzzle velocity of aprox 200 fps.

NOTE my project DOES require that you disassemble and modify your gun. YOUR GUN WILL STILL WORK NORMALLY IF YOU ARE USING A PISTOL OF SOME SORT. I can't promise that this project is compatible with the nerf longshot or maverick, but if you have a nightsight, this should work well.

Step 1: Modding the gun

this instructable requires that you mod your gun for greatest effectiveness. these are the steps, assuming that you have a nerf nightsight like I do.

pic1, pull all the screws out
pic2, separate the two halves
pic3, loosen the air chamber restraint screw
pic4, pull out the flow resistor, barrel assembly and assorted bits in the end of the piston.
pic5, the part you need to mod
pic5, the completed mod (break off the spike.)
pic6, optional mod of the airflow resistor for greater airflow
pic7, reassembled barrel and components
pic8, reinsertion. be sure to line up the teeth on the barrel and the barrel-piston connection.
(unphotographed) tighten up that piston restraint screw again (in pic 3) and screw the gun back together.

Great tutorial, one thing is how does the shell work. When I make one and put in a BB in it the shell launches it with the BB inside. I want it to only shoot BB's, not shooting nerf shells holding BB's. Please help.

Hot glue it. Make sure you have it totally airtight. If you already did a PVC mod like me, it'll work WAY better.

For Step 1, part (and pic) 5, I used a screwdriver with a Slotted bit ( a line instead of a Phillips, which is kind of a 4-point star shape) and put it across the little support pieces in that circle bit, pressed the piece against the floor and put my weight on the screwdriver to break those supports until the middle circle came free. The remaining junk on that circle isn't really an issue.

For optional step 6 (picture 6), I simple used a butane torch-lighter (the cigar-lighter kind, not an actual jet torch) to heat up the non-concave side of that piece of plastic until it was slightly blackish in the middle with small bubbles on the surface (and had to hold it with a small pair of metal clamps), then used my aforementioned screwdriver above to punch out a circle.

Nice and simple solution.... I suppose there's some nut out there who'd use a milling machine for this.

you can order a 250 fps airsoft thats veery acurate for 199$.
this is a simple thing, for about 10$. great instructable.

I modded my gun a couple yrs ago, same gun, and used the casing of a bic pen along with a sharpie highlighter casing and duct taped around them and put them in my gun, but I don't know the fps, it can leave a 2mm dent in drywall/plaster, about how powerful is that?

good! i made one and it worked really well! It went at least 290fps. i checked on my chronometer and it was at 293 fps. Good instructable.

Not exactly homemade. Homemade is when you use PVC pipes to put together something. This is a mod, not a completely new gun. here you just put on a rubberband and a tube and taking out a piece.

When i did this my finished product shot about 300fps because i used strong rubber bands and i stretched the spring out alot.

I have a shotgun airsoft gun that shoots 3 pellets at once, at 360 fps each.  But that was one I bought for around $60 USD, not one I made.

what I did is take an air nerf pistol (like the air shot 4000, or somthing) and put a straw on it.  Thats it.  And It fired pretty darn accurate!

THANKS MAN it worked great!!!!!!! at first i put too much tape but then i took some off and shot it against the wall. It hit the wall and came back at me      (i was about 10 yards away!!!).

if u put a spring feeded mag ON TOP (in an angle so the bbs wont fall out too) then u even hav a hop-up-system! (i did that ... :D)
