Nerf Gun Modification 101

Step 5Put it back together and test

Put it back together and test
Now comes the fun part. When you're ready to put it all back together, make sure everything lines up to begin with. There's a part of the cylinder that needs to fall in to the right side of the gun. There are also 4 orange rollers on the bottom of the cylinder, 2 on each side. They need to fit into a guide in the gun half. Double check everything, and find out if it works best for you with it cocked or not. The part that I had trouble with was the thing that catches the spring holder. That kept popping off, but it eventually went back together. Once you get it screwed together, you can start launching darts at crazy speeds, and even sell these bad boys. Maybe you'll make some money!

the only problem i have with mine is that the darts spiral out of control. Has anyone ever tried to get a barrel that fits the dart better to work?

make Stefans (yes, Stefans) instead, they are a "home made" dart variety. cheao, and WAY better than stock darts. look at your streamline dart (that's what the darts that come with the longshot are called), on the head, there's a hole. THAT is what's making them spiral out of control.

I'd recommend sawing off the "probe" that sticks out of the bolt sled. Even though it lets micros fit, they don't shoot very well (say 3-5 feet), but it lets you load from the top making it "more realistic". Also, you should take apart the LSFG (long shot front gun) and take the top barrel. Now if you wrap a thin layer of masking tape around the base, you can stick it into the front and not have to deal with the weight and awkwardness of the LSFG. The accuracy takes a blow without the added barrel length especially with streamlines because with the added force, the weight propotion of the dart is thrown off balance and the darts tend to "float" or spiral.

Wouldn't removing the air restrictors also improve performance?
Aug 19, 2008. 9:47 PMhowmayikillu says:
the air restrictors r the things that stop air from going into the dart like the poky thingy that sticks into the dart, and there r alot of other innoying air restrictors but to find more about that go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oof_L84syfM

Just doing these mods isn't going to help much. The Longshot relies on a a spring replacement or add-on to get signifigant ranges, but not to say these won't help.
