Winter-weight wool crepe dress lined in cotton, shawl collar, vintage Bakelite buckle on the belt.  This dress is my first project sewing on this scale - those skirt pieces take up a lot of space.  It's quite heavy and has great movement; I'd call the pattern a success and this summer, a linen model is forthcoming from the same one.

beautiful work, such a nice finished product!

Very nice indeed. I can imagine the same pattern done in a floral (large flowers) polished cotton, this would make it crisp. The addition of large patch pockets would look good too.

I love the look of this dress!!
Would you be willing to do a tutorial? :)

Thank you, I'm glad you like it! I've been planning to make another dress from this pattern, and I could certainly do a tutorial. It won't be until the end of the semester, though.
Oh brilliant! Of course :)
Can I ask where you get your patterns from because I've been looking for some vintage dresses, or patterns to have a go at!

I use _The Costume Technician's Handbook_ as my reference for drafting patterns. I prefer to make my own, but I look at vintage patterns online for inspiration; eBay and Etsy often have a lot of them. If there's a photo of the back of the envelope that shows the layout of the pieces, I can usually re-draft the pattern myself. Vogue Patterns also has a limited selection of their own original patterns from the 40's and 50's that they still print and sell through their website or in stores where other patterns are sold.

Thank you! I made the pattern, using vintage patterns as a reference.
