Introduction: Nintendo Wii Table Tennis Rackets

About: An aspiring artist. Visit me at https://www.instagram.com/erilyth_art/

A few days ago I was playing Wii Sports on my Nintendo Wii...I played power cruising, swordplay, bowling etc... but I liked table tennis the most and I always played it with my friend!

So I went online and searched for a Wii Table Tennis Racket...and due to shipping charges and restrictions...this is the cheapest I came out with! And it costed more than 20$...

So then I decided to make my own as my parents were not willing to buy it...
And after making it I thought it looked quite good so I decided to share an instructabe on how to make it!

I made two of them so that I can play with my friend! (The second one was better!)

I am sure that there are a lot of audiance out there who play table tennis on their nintendo wii...so this ible will help you play better! And for those who don't know what the Wii or Wii Sports is here are some links!

So lets get started!

Step 1: Materials Needed...

Materials :

Some cardboard
Crafting glue
Sugru (even some strong clay might work...)

Tools :

Glue gun
Glue Sticks
Scissors
Box Cutter

Here is where you can get some of them :

Glue gun (with glue sticks) :

Step 2: Making the Head

First print out a sketch of a lifesize table tennis racket...thencut the head out, and then attach the paper on top of the cardboard.

Then depending on how thick your cardboard is you may have to cut out about 4-6 copies of that printout on to cardboard...then take all of the cardboard pieces and using some hot glue attach the pieces one on top of another.

My cardboard was quite thick so I glued on 4 pieces of the cardboard together.

Step 3: Making the Handle

There are two ways to go around this step...

1) To go to on ebay and but a wii remote silicone case, and then buy a small plastic box in which the silicone case will fit snug...then glue the silicone case inside the plastic box.

Silicone case (Inbuilt motion plus wii remotes) :

Silicone case (External motion plus acessory) :

2) Take some cardboard and trace your wii remotes sides onto it...and then trace the bottom onto it...and for the "B" button you will need to bend the cardboard upwards and make a hole in the center so that it fits perfectly with the wii remote!

Then attach all the cardboard pieces together and you are done!

Note : I would prefer the first method as its cheap and neat...but because of shipping problems I had to do the cardboard method.
Note : Sorry for the lack of pictures

Step 4: Attaching and Finishing Of...

This is the easiest part as all you need to do is take the head and the handle and attach them together with using a lot of hot glue

I attached the handle on top of the head, and used hot glue to attach them, and then used some ceramic clay to strengthen the hold...it did make it a bit heavier but it was worth it.

Then once you are done with attaching the handle then you are done with the making process...

Now you need to strengthen the whole thing so that it doesn't break off when you are playing with it...
I used sugru for this, I applied sugru around the head, and some near the attachment of the handle, and some on top of the handle where the opening is so that the cardboard does not wear off when attaching the wii remote and removing it...

And once you are done attaching the sugru...you are done with this instructable! Go play Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort and have fun!

Step 5: Extras : Spray Paint, Duct Tape

I used some additional black sugru to cover up the holes etc...so due to that the sugru color does not look really that good, so I thought why not spray paint it, and I decided to give it a coat of silver spray paint.

If you wanted the table tennis racket to look more realistic, then you can use Red for the front, Black for the back, and Brown for the handle! I didn't have any of those colors so I just decided to make it silver, but silver looks quite good as well!

And after spray painting it, You can use some duct and electrical tape to decorate it and once that is done, you are ready to go! All you need to do is put the remote in the racket...load up the game and start playing!

Step 6: Extras : Gameplay

There is a table tennis game for the wii, but I like the table tennis in wii sports better!
Here is the official website of Wii Sports Resort : http://wiisportsresort.com/

Here is a video of the gameplay and some pictures!
