Introduction: No Closet? No Problem!

Picture of No Closet? No Problem!

My family and I were missionaries lived in Bolivia for 5 months. We lived in a house with NO doors and NO glass in the windows, NOt even screens(the second picture is our home made "closet"), with 2 other families 18 people.

Now we are living in the US in a tiny cabin (great size for a couple) 1 bedroom(no door again ;) 1 bathroom (with a door) and a loft, with 7 in the family right now.

Living in "not" the ideal dream home has taught us a few ''no closet " tricks. I'm happy to share. Hope to Help

Step 1: Drawer Storage Cart

Picture of Drawer Storage Cart

Go to your local shopping center and look for a drawer storage cart. These are usually fairly inexpensive and can be used to organize anything!

Step 2: Organizing

Picture of Organizing

organizing is simple for example in drawers put 1 short sleeve shirts

2 long sleeve

3 underwear

4 socks.

My father has them in this order 1 T-shirts

2 Underpants

3 socks

For fast use make labels for each drawer specially for smaller children, they really enjoy participating in the making of them. Add a picture of what belongs in the drawer it is lots of fun and encourages them to keep thing in order themselves.

Step 3: Wire Shelving

Wire shelving is great!

You can arrange the shelves at the height you want them. For more organization put your items in plastic shoe bins on the shelf, you will be surprised how much you can fit in them!

Twin sheets in one bin, queen/ pillowcases in the other. Winter hats in one and mittens and gloves in the other.

Step 4: Baby Clothes

Picture of Baby Clothes

For baby clothes place a shower curtain rod in the top for gang up cloths. Use small shoe boxes to put small things like socks, hats, mittens, hair bows or ties... etc

Step 5: Anything

Anything can be used, a cardboard box, table, suitcase, plastic bins, buckets..........

Great ideas! Thank you. this is exactly what I need to do in my apartment. I have a closet but I have no storage so I'd like to use the closet for storage and make a closet along the wall where my dressers are. Hi can't figure out how to hang the poles in the wire shelving. How did you Do that?

We put a short screw on either side and
wrapped some sturdy wire around the screwheads and throw the metal rack. Thanks

Another thing to try is neatly putting a folded sheet(s) into a pillow case for each bed. If there are two pillows add the other inside. Fold the stuffed pillow case over so it lays flat and store in a container or on a shelf. That way all the bedding for each bed is in one package. Makes for quicker work and neater storage as you're not digging to find things :)
