Introduction: No Ordinary BLT Sandwich!

About: I am married with two children. Spring, summer, and fall are my very favorite times of the year. I enjoy working in the yard, sewing, cooking, quilting, gardening, and creating. I do this to keep my sanity.

BLT's are my favorite sandwich! I love them! The bacon contest is why this recipe even exists! I have been playing around with garlic and made this sandwich for lunch today! I have a new favorite sandwich and this instructable will show you how I converted an ordinary Blt. into something more adventurous! Let's get started!

Step 1: Ingredients and Utensils

Depending on how many people you are feeding will determine how much is needed.  I used one garlic bulb per sandwich, and 6 slices of bacon per sandwich. The rest of the ingredients would be what ever you prefer.

Bacon
Baby spinach
Tomatoes
Shredded cheddar cheese
Small bell peppers
Garlic
Italian Bread
1 inch layer of Kosher Salt
Few teaspoons Olive oil
A couple of rosemary springs
Salt and pepper
Mayonnaise
Muffin pan, cookie sheet, tin foil, and cutting tools. Bakers twine makes a pretty presentation.

Step 2: Garlic

Remove about 1/4 inch of the garlic tops as shown.
Add a one inch layer of Kosher salt to the muffin tin.
Snuggle garlic into the salt without touching the garlic bottoms to the bare pan.
Add one sprig of rosemary across the top of the pan as shown.
Cover the tops of the garlic with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
Cover with tin foil.

Step 3: Roast Bacon and Garlic

Place the bacon on a cookie sheet.
Place the garlic and bacon in the oven at 325- 350 degrees F for about 30 minutes or until the bacon is done and the garlic is soft.
Please note: I cooked mine a little too long so I adjusted the baking time. I baked mine at 350 for 1 hour and it was too long. I was going on another recipe I made a couple of days ago and it turned out fine, so I am not sure what happened with this one. I will let you be the judge.

Step 4: Peppers, Tomatoes, Spinach and Ciabatta Italian Bread

While the bacon and garlic are roasting, begin washing and cutting the tomatoes and peppers and
slice the bread.

Step 5: Caramelize Peppers

Caramelize the peppers.

Step 6: Remove Bacon and Garlic When Done

Step 7: Garlic and Mayonnaise Spread

Squeeze the garlic from the bulbs and put the roasted garlic in a small bowl.
Add Mayonnaise, salt, and pepper to taste.

Step 8: Toast Italian Bread

Toast the bread halves.

Step 9: Build Sandwich

Let the build begin!

I layered the bacon, tomatoes, peppers, cheese, spinach, and repeated a couple of more layers!
Spread the garlic and mayonnaise mixture over the bread.
Cover the sandwich and tie it with bakers twine!

Step 10: Sunshiine's Final Thoughts

We enjoyed this sandwich so much today! I will probably never make another plain BLT again unless of course I don't have everything to make this recipe. Stay tuned for another very tasty garlic treat that is just as delicious as this one is! It is amazing what you can do when  you have to think a little deeper and wider than normal! I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we did! If you like this instructable here is another one that is so delicious! https://www.instructables.com/id/Bacon-and-Rosemary-Salt-Baked-Potato/
