Step 6: Begin tying knots

Leave your blanket laying flat on the surface, with all fringes lined up. I find it easier to start tying from the left and work right, going around the blanket. If you are left-handed, you may find it easier to start on the right and work left. These knots are called balloon knots... tie them just like you would if tying off a balloon! You can also tie a knot like you would make with a shoe lace. That kind of knot will be easier if your hands are arthritic.
<p>Brilliant idea!</p>
Is the square 5x5?
<p>I made some! They are very easy and fun, and are a great multi-tasking project (I tied mine while watching TV). I recommend 1 yard for a child's blanket, and 2+ for an adult blanket, depending on what you want to use it for. I finished making a child's blanket last night, and it only took me about two hours. I haven't quite finished the adult's blanket yet, but I think it will take between 2 1/2 and 3 hours. </p>
<p>This is a great tutorial! The pictures are a little dark, though. </p><p>Here's a new step-by-step tutorial--with awesome pictures :)</p><p>http://blog.spoonflower.com/2016/04/how-to-make-a-no-sew-fleece-blanket.html</p>
<p>2 not to</p>
<p>It only took us 20 minutes and we made to blankets super fun and easy</p>
<p>I got to make one at young women. It was so fun. I am thinking of making more of my own. Also, you can make them for this project called &quot;Project Linus&quot;. If you buy Fleece from www.yourfleece.com and get fleece to make for the Project Linus. The promo code is &quot;LINUS&quot;.</p>
<p>I can't wait to get started, as I have seen some a friend has made for her grandchildren they are gorgeous and practical</p>
<p>This was my first blanket and it was so easy! I sent it to a very special boxer puppy at a local rescue who is very sick. I am now making more, not only for my boys but for other rescues as well. Thank you for this easy pattern!</p>
<p>lisa.redmondknight- get a person to come over and help you. Then grab each end and give them a tug. They won't be bunched up after that. </p>
Had so much fun making this this morning for my daughter. Can't wait till she is old enough so we can do craft time together. Super easy instructions to follow plus it only cost us four bucks to make the blanket because I already had the owl side from anothe project. I recommend this to everyone even my husband got involved!
<p>my 2 granddaughters age 13 made a blanket last evening in about 2 hours they are beautiful! The girls love them, I love them! </p>
<p>Should you wash the fabric first?</p>
<p>My best friends mother would make these for her kids all the time, thanks for reminding me how to make them. :)</p>
What would the measurements be for a lap size blanket, single size, double, queen and king. Thanks
<p>i am looking too, for prices as well my home burned flat</p>
<p>my house burned and I am trying to figure prices for insurance for all size tie blankets</p>
How do you tie the knot??
<p>You can make it flat by pulling on the strings and also pull in each direction on the sides. I had the same problem and it will pull flat. Also fabric is called blizzard and there are the character prints, Disney and Snoopy, sports teams, there is every thing available at the fabric stores, including Walmart and JoAnnes. I made my granddaughter Snoopy and plain Yellow Blizzard fabric on the other. She loves it..</p>
Do you have 2 yard of this fleece for sale?
I have the same question. And/or what is the name of this fabric so I can order. If anyone knows it would be greatly appreciated. Friend having a baby &amp; doing nursery with deer theme and this would be the PERFECT fabric to use. Thanks.

I made 2 of these blankets and mine are not flat. They bunch up all around the blankets where the knots are. What am I doing wrong? I followed the instructions
<p>Try tying the knot farther away from the edge of the actual blanket. Tying it to close pulls the blanket into the knot itself. I usually try to tie the not about a cm about the edge. (:</p>
I will totally try that Ashley. Thanks for the help.

I work in a fabric store, and the no sew fleece projects are all the rage. I'm going to be attempting my first tonight! (Late to the party, I know.)
i just want to print instructions for the no sew blanket. i signed up for pro and still cannot print the instructions. please tell me how to do this. that is all i need. please send to my e-mail so i can make one of these blankets.&nbsp; thank you.<br /> e-mail add: <a href="mailto:tylersgmal@hotmail.con" rel="nofollow">tylersgmal@hotmail.con</a> <br /> <br /> sandy
I can't save the PDF or download it, either...guess I'll print it from my web browser.
Sandy,<br><br>You need to download the instructable first. Then print as you would any other document. There are even options to leave out the table of contents, comments, etc.
she isnt even pro though
I'm not pro and I can download PDF's.<br><br>Heck if you want the easy way click on &quot;view all steps on one page&quot; then print from your web browser. No pro account needed to do that.
what does it mean when it says if ur blkt. is square...turn top so stretch goes in opposite direction of stretch in bottom piece?? i dont get it..
square... like the length and width are the same. Tug on your fabric along the edge. You will see that the side where you cut the selvage off does not stretch as much as the adjacent side. Place the two pieces so that the stretchy edge is lined up with the not-so-stretchy side. It will give your blanket more stability and be easier to tie.
These instructions are much better/more detailed than the first one I read. <br> <br>Gave me extra suggestions/advice I hadnt thought of---THANK YOU !
That's a really neat! I love snuggly fleece blankets, so this would be a great way of making a two-colored extra-comfy blanket for our couch :D
Cool! I once made one of these, but mini for my little brother's stuffed cat toy, of which I also made! <br>
I did this year ago and I love it! who knows, maybe I got my idea from here!<br><br>I did boring easy knots though, simple and pretty and warm!
Thanks for the video. The balloon knots are the best; a little difficult at first, but did get easier. My blanket looks almost as nice as yours.
I make them as baby shower gifts and Christmas gifts. SOOO easy.... I have made 3 that are much bigger - for my dad in law (RIP), and for my daugher and son in law. Dad;s was John Deere and dark green contrast. My daughters was hunting fabric on one side and creamy fluffy extra fluff cream color, my son in laws was the hunting fabric on one side and blaze orange on the other. LOL... Those three were - 108 inches by 108 inches- my son in law is 6ft 5inches, and daughter shares hers with their fur babies. My dad in law got very cold at night and his was double double layered. After his death we inherited it back which is fine - DH has lupus and Raynauds and gets cold very very easily.
What a wonderfully simple idea!! Walmart has them on sale for $3.00 a pair. We are making 8 blankets to send to the reservation in S. Dakota. Thankyou for your inspirational idea!!
Ah I love these blankets. They make for great baby shower gifts as you can make them really quick. If you are doing it for a baby shower I would suggest putting a line of stitching around the edge as you never know what this blanket could be used for and just keeps it together even better.
So fabulous. I love instructable, I was just on the way to the fabric store and I thought...I wonder if anyone has explained how to do what I had in my head...and you did! Yay, you! Thanks. :)
AWK! Fabric store? NO NO NO.... www.bunyworks.net. I have all the fleece you need for the tied blankets! <grin>
umm you have to buy a whole bolt of fabric? Do you guys sell anything smaller than a 12yd. bolt? I'd like to make some with a baby print and some with adult prints..
Hee. Well, my Igor had his little heart set on the "dolphins in space" fleece he saw in the window. Now...you and I both know that dolphins in space would be...erm...less picturesque than said fabric...but there's no arguing science with a six year old Igor. ;)
all you have to do is copy and paste them put them on word and print
fine very fine<br>http://filman.ru
