Ingredients:
- 1-2 tablespoon Nutella
- 1 cup water
Variations:
Microwave method:
Pour water/milk into microwavable cup and heat for 2 min. Add Nutella and microwave for another minute. (Ezara mentioned below that if you have a higher power microwave these times are a bit high; try heating the water for 1 minute, add the Nutella and heat for another 40s). Stir and serve.
Make it creamier:
Replace all or part of the water with milk/cream. Stir/whisk constantly while heating. Froth up the milk if you have a frother.
Make it more chocolaty:
Add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder.
Make it spicier:
Add a pinch (or more) of cayenne pepper and/or a teaspoon of cinnamon.
Make it more caffeinated:
Add a 1/2-1 teaspoon instant espresso powder or replace some of the water with brewed espresso.

Tastes great!
Great work ChrysN!
i make it with a mug of milk and a tablespoon of nutella or a teacup of milk and two teaspoons
ever since i found this i haven't gone back to the powered mixes, this is honestly one of the best drinks ever!
slightly chocolaty with a lovely creamy taste of hazelnuts ^_^
brilliant work Chrysn
Note: Microwave times strongly depend on your microwave. If I cooked mine that long, either the mug would crack or the drink would boil over. I did 1 minute first, and then 40 seconds after adding the nutella - worked out at a great temperature :)
THING.
EVER.
DEVISED.
one more thing, a couple small chunks of dark chocolate dropped in the mug is very good. The chocolate is dense enough that it stays at the bottom and then when the sweet hot chocolate is gone you get some bitter dark chocolate. ^_^
I am someone who really improvises with cooking (I never follow a recipe exactly) and I have used nutella on salty wheat crackers and in cold drink mixes but it never occurred to me to mix it in with something hot. I'm glad you thought of it!
I'm definitely going to try this with almond or coconut milk!
