I have an oold computer that doesnt work so i gutted all the main components and took them out. I was wondering if any1 could help me come up with an idea using these things.

It's Dell Dimension 4300. I think I go it in 2002.. I think
2002? We have a computer I'm taking apart at the moment which has a little sticker on the floppy drive saying "manufactured June 1997". It was running Windows 95 when I blew up the power supply.
I'm feeling older for reading this. Not going to admit to the average age of the computer grave yard in the attic..... haha one or 2 still have 5 1/4 floppy.

Good luck replacing the motherboard. Dell makes their cases impossible to be swapped for different boards. Different sizes, different mount points...
how about a webserver or a ftp server always handy to know and btw this aint really oldschool oldschool is something like a zx sinclaire, comedore 64 or a 8080 cpu based pc :P

if the hard drives still work you could put them in a good computer for more GB's of HD space.

Why don't you make an old-school computer with the parts? You could load up an older OS and make the computer a dedicated jukebox, picture slideshow or arcade (MAME) machine; you know, for parties.

that's a great idea. i was thinking of something like that myself, but like a picture slideshow. the only thing is i had a tech guy look at it and he said the motherboard was a messed up. so that's why i took it apart. i dont know if i should buy another motherboard.
Just buy another old used mobo on ebay that comes with a processor and make sure it fits your RAM, the stick inside the most on the time black slot. It is most likely DDR SDRAM, but you can that by googleing the computer name. Then Buy A SATA PCI controller and a SATA hard drive(s) with lots of space. Also I Would Buy a Wi-Fi or other networking card. Then, Download FreeNAS of the internet and bunt it to a CD with ImageBurner. Insert the CD into the drive and boot from it. This Will Turn your Computer into something that can hold all your files from all the PCs on the network. Great for Backups! Plus you'll save about $150 from the price of a NAS box on the market.

Then go back in time to when your computer was worth something like before they  were invented and then sell it fo a mint.

Take it to a PC World and watch the look on their faces they will be amazed they have never seen a computer before you see.

Those things that you dont know what they are, are floppy drives, very outdated

load it with linux, and make it a fire wall for internet, or use it as a slave for your better computer(1 more cd drive, more rom space, etc.

Dead hard drives: Strip them down for the disks to make wind chimes, the few magnets are useful for holding things to metal. screws are always handy. Recycle the aluminum case (enough of them and you got a few cents)

Dead CD Drives: There are a few motors you can use in the and a laser if you can get it out. There are also 2 small powerful magnets you can use for several things, like paint one and use them as magnetic earrings.

Fan: rig it into your current computer for extra cooling

Dead Boards : Strip as much as you can off them and make some computer bugs http://www.instructables.com/id/Computer-Bugs/
