Opel Kadett C2 1.2N Restoration Project

Hello watchers,

I recently restored this small "working class" car and I wanted to share this video with you guys.
This video contains a few of many pictures being taken during the restoration.
Soon I'll be uploading all pictures, so the interested people can see the fine details.
The car is an Opel Kadett 1.2N sedan/Limousine from march '79. It has also been sold as a Vauxhall Chevette, Chevrolet Chevette, Isuzu Gemini and Holden Gemini. This particular car has a 1200cc overhead valve with underlying camshaft engine.

Opel is a car of my dream. I will buy it in a week, but im gonna buy a car which was already used. I found auction where i will choose my future car https://1bid1.com/search?category=1 Can you advice me, whether Opel is worth buying? thanx

Advice I can give you, but it's difficult to say what the weak parts of the car are.

The weak parts depend on where it's been made. Mine's made in Belgium(some are made in Germany). Those cars had bad quality steel. specifically noticeable in the wheel arch behind the front wheel. Mud will collect there and the water/salt wil corrode your cars heavily (lower end of the A-pillar). Same for the floor panel underneath the spare tyre.

The 1.2 axle is weak but good enough for the particular engine. with a bigger motor you're going to have to change the entire drivetrain. Opel Manta is commonly used as a donor.

Doorlocks are hard to come by in a set. I wanted only one key for all locks which set me back 250 euro's, which is approximately 350 USD. The locks will fail overtime.

This model has been made for Opel,Vauxhall, Buick and Holden.
