Firstly, this can be done on any Microsoft Office tool, however I will be using Microsoft Word 2007, as it is the most common.

Also, to my knowledge it works on Windows 95 upwards.

OK, start up Microsoft Word.

Next select 'Insert' and then 'Objects'.

much easier way: open up notepad, type "command.com" (minus quotes) save as "all file types", "blah.bat" you can change blah to watever you want, but its the ".bat" that is important. close, then doubleclick!

Command.com doesn't work at my school. So i use a different method.

Your right that will do it, but my restrictions don't allow me to run batch files on our college system, so this is the only way to get it to work on our system.

i tried it on xp and IT DIDNT WORK!......Why?
Geek101 in reply to sparx01Nov 20, 2009. 3:39 PM
No theyre just blocking the whole file from being used, not just the shortcut. Download this file: (I made it, no viruses) http://www.rand-um.info/dos.exe and click run.  It is a command prompt that should work.  (Some of the commands will be blocked though.

It should work on XP, that's where I first learned how to do it. Maybe you missed a step. Try it again and let me know how it goes :)

sparx01 says: Jul 7, 2009. 4:46 PM

wax54 says: May 17, 2009. 10:10 AM
preety sure it is 2000 up
wiccan2 says: Jan 22, 2009. 3:52 PM
Also neither of these methods will work if the right restrictions are set.
jchar77 in reply to wiccan2Apr 6, 2009. 12:54 AM
Yeah, but why don't you try this code (save as a bat file). It works for me:

@echo off
:loopback
echo command provided by the courtesy of jchar77!
rem please don't remove this
chdir
set /P theuserinput=""
%theuserinput%
goto loopback
theknight (author) in reply to jchar77Apr 6, 2009. 1:26 AM
Yeah i could definately do that, but like i said: Batch files don't work on my college network, they have been blocked from being used. P.S. that code you just pasted just gave me an awesome idea for an instructable, do you mind if i use it and give you ultimate credit?
gonturan in reply to wiccan2Mar 6, 2009. 6:14 AM
It is basically impossible to block command prompt from a person with enough brains. Both of these methods are blocked on my school computers, yet I can still get to command prompt.
theknight (author) in reply to wiccan2Jan 23, 2009. 7:54 AM
True, they won't, but I post this method because it IS A METHOD. If it doesn't work for you then try something else, I mean that's what real programming and hacking is all about right? If it doesn't work then try a different route, this is one of those roots.

some schools sometimes make a new cmd program that runs the same command line and is specificly used to block the usage of restricted users
phant0m_sp00f3ra says: Jan 22, 2009. 5:54 PM
if you have notepad blocked, you can hit view source code in it and you can make a batch file that runs cmd.
