This is a papercraft Origami-like "Wooden Rocking Horse"

You will need :
- patience
- paper glue
- paper (two different thicknesses , depending on how strong the result you want)
- x-acto knife
- (did i mentioned patien... ho... yeah! i did!)

Step 1: Printing

Just print pages 1 and 2 for the version you choose, the rest is patience, glue and an x-acto knife.

I drew the templates from scratch in Inkscape,then i simply printed this on normal paper ( the quality depends on the printer and paper of course ) and reinforcing by gluing thicker paper on the back.

There are two versions :
- female/starfish/pinkish pony version
- simpler wooden one ( photos of the Instructable are of this version )

Great for kids and fathers to spend some quality time together.

Just print pages 1 and 2 for the version you choose...

Step 2: Assembly

Cut each piece by the outline (thicker lines) , score the paper (dashed lines) , and remove hollow islands (red fill).

The parts are numbered and the number is referenced where the part should be glued to the other.

There is no need to follow a particular order of assembly, main parts are :
- head ;
- neck ;
- legs ;
- rocking feet

I would start by the feet (more difficult parts) and head, the others are simple boxes.

In the end add the tail and horsehair (these are basically a flat portion with glue applied to the edge and attached perpendicular to the head/body as shown in the photos.

(sorry no pictures on the construction, i got carried away by the urge need of building, so all i have are pics of latter stages)

Step 3: Scenery

After building the horse you can had a little bit of scenery, and also if you are giving this thing to a kid, protect it in a transparent case.

I just used an old empty cell phone plastic case,again i designed a wooden deck , and a woody back wall.

Here are the templates , the method is the same - thicken the paper with another glued on the back,bla bla bla - ,it should be pretty straightforward, cut ,score, bend ,glue etc..

I also used some foam as vegetation shrubbery, this foam is usually used to grow household plants, its very easy to model, just cut with x-acto knife and smooth with finger pressure.

Step 4: TADAAAAAA

There it is! In all of its glory!

As a last note - I sew the feet of the horse to the stage, as to let it rock, but not to loosen itself inside the case.

Hope you get as much fun as i did building this thingy, perhaps it could also be a way to closen kids with fathers these days :)
