That would depend on the type of site you're attempting to survive on. Not every site will have everything you desire, but if you look at what you have around you (and most importantly WITHIN YOU), you'll find most everything you need to effect your own survival. Tools and gear are great, but what matters most is the internal skill and knowledge possessed by the individual. Own the skill and you have the ability to improvise in the backcountry. You'll have the right kind of eyes and be able to look at your surroundings and decide whether survival is possible, given your circumstances and the environmental conditions present at your site.
