PCB Guitar Pick

Featured
In my first Instructable, I gonna show you how to make the most geek guitar pick ever.

This pick IS NOT MY IDEA, I take the model from Etsy.com

I made mine (http://imgur.com/OoY0GxK) into a necklace and I use wirecutters, a sharpie, a guitar pick, sandpaper and a file. Just think, only a whole drawer full to go. http://imgur.com/fGpyke9

Good use of the screw hole :D

You should probably coat the board in some sort of thin glue finish so that you don't harm the pcb and it doesn't harm you..

I made it for a friend, but he never gave me any feedback about it. So, sadly, I don't know how much harm it can cause.

But sure, coating is an idea I had in mind from the start, but I never managed to find a good material to use.

So cool! Don't you unsolder the resistors? Its good looking anyway.

no i don't remove it, that work like Anti-skid ;-) ! thanks for the reply !

That doesn't hurt your fingers?

LOL notice the printed on inductor near the bottom, I thought that they only did that on cheap circuit boards.

sharp pliers sorry ^_^ !

im probably going to do this soon, but i would need some kind of plastic coating because the solder on it is led, and a lot of the times, i put my pick in my mouth to hold it while im doing something with both hands.
Eh. A little lead never hurt anyone.
Would polyurethane work? Or is that just trading one health hazard for another? I've used polyurethane with other projects where I need a durable clear coating and it's worked pretty well. But not anything I'm putting in my mouth. I'd like to make a few of these (lots of guitar players in the family). If anyone knows more about polyurethane than I do, would that be relatively safe?

It´s a good idea to add a plastic layer to the pick but I dont know what material use. Sorry and post it here when you do it. Or make your own instructable explain how, it should be interesting.

I've got a set of these, but I'd urge guitar players to be careful with them. They have absolutely no give, which is bad for your strings and usually your sound, and they'll scratch up your guitar something fierce. They'll scratch the pickguards too--which is what they're there for, but it still doesn't look pretty.

cut w/ scissor? xD
plugable (author)  WALLz3 years ago
No! Use a dremel or the power drill. Sorry for the mistake, im rewriting it

You said the pcb has to be less than 1mm thick but I play 1.5mm picks so you should change it to say 1mm is what you prefer.

Thanks jzone3, Im changing it!
