This is my old dv 6000 laptop, first of all ive seen checkearboard here on instructables but couldnt find a way to do them and yes im hearing you say "but they are easy"
Indeed they are, but why not share a how to with people.
 1. Objetct to pain on
 2. masking tape
 3. 1 or 2 paint colors.

Step 1:

First clean it up, you can use w/e you like, i used a wet baby wipe, which was what i had in hand.
Afterwards do the framing with masking tape, this will serve to have somwhere to put guide marks with your pencil, making it easier to do the squares afterward, and this marks well, i tried to do the normal squaring on the laptop, but you can do any kind of checkerboard you may want

I like the idea, and i think i'll make it even easier--instead of reputting down more tape, y ou could spray the base coat all over first, then paint over the tape only once. :)

This is really cool, and much easier than I ever thought it would be.
Thank you :)
