Edit: This is now outdated, please go to Paper Strandbeest Mk 2

Well I was bored one weekend and I had nothing to do so I was going to make a mini Strandbeest out of cardboard to hold a cup or other objects.
This is fairly easy but don't use corrugated cardboard if you are making it small because it will bend over time and break.

Are 4 legs enough for a Strand Beastie?  I think Jansens minimum was 8...

It wobles when I make it move but I am going to make a 6 legged one to make it steady.
It only needs 6 but 8 is Sr Jansen's way

Think it would be possible to add a motor to one of these?

I've tried with an old motor but i need more torque to move the paper rubbing on the paperclip
beehard44 in reply to dombeefOct 7, 2010. 4:22 AM
use gears, you can use a small bottle cap with a rubber band wrapped around it for the motor and a big cap (maybe from the 5L water bottles) for the paperclip.

yeah, but where will the motor stay on it? I am creating a new verson with more stable legs
beehard44 in reply to dombeefOct 10, 2010. 5:21 AM
maybe on a box on top?
