Step 3:

To start you will need to find out how long of sling you will need for your gun. The strap will not be adjustable when you are done. I used a sling off another gun to find my length, or you can just use a piece of paracord and some trial and error.

Once you found the size that fits you best, mount your swivels on the board using the screws and washers. Keeping that distance between them.

I made one with the same basic idea but I used a cobra stitch /Solomon bar

I wont to make a 35 inch strap using this but how much para cord will I need? I wont to use two colours

Always start with 100' just so you don't run out. It sells in 50' and 100' etc. 50' may be to short
Wow, $64 labor seems kind of high for a copy of a free instructable.

http://www.amazon.com/BackBone-Paracord-Rifle-Sling-BackBone90DCBoa/dp/B00R3G6OUE/ref=sr_1_11?tag=tpsthroughsolu-20&linkCode=w00&creativeASIN=B00R3G6OUE/

Why doesn't my weave look anything like this?

You have to really pull it tight. I end up pulling the stringers one way while I pull the weave the opposite. If you let it sit for a day or two you can really pull it tight and fill in the gap before finishing the end.

New turkey season coming soon, needed one with a bit more brown. First Instructable I have repeated, and mostly because I just wanted to.

Came out great! used just under 90ft of cord

i have played airsoft for going on 10 years. i have always used a sling but the excess material has always gotten in the way or gotten twisted up. this is a great sling. i used carabiners instead of the sling mounts so that i can quickly move from a 2 to a 1 point or vice versa and can change which gun i use the sling with. i plan to take this sling with me when i deploy with the Army to afghanistan in a few months.

I did a 'test' run fusing together the colors my friend wants and also made it wider (he wants 4" wide) worked great. While doing this I was reminded of making a 'rag rug' on my grandma's loom as a child. We have decided to have a 'fusing party' and fuse together scraps of cord (have a bag full) and different lengths of the colors in the theme he wants. I think it will turn our Very cook and funky which is what my friend wants. Here is the 'test' I did. Thank you for the inspiration!!!!

I like this and am looking for weaves I can use for a Guitar strap. Problem.....I need to use multiple colors (making for a friend) Since the cord is wrapped up to weave in and out do you think if I fuse my colors together in say 6 or 8 ft sections and then makes my spool out of that - I think it would work. Gonna do a trial run. Thanks for the instructions - GREAT JOB!

I have been in the paracord gear business for 2 1/2 years, and I have never, EVER soaked/boiled/pre-shrunk paracord. It is not at all needed and the cord BARELY shrinks when wet, but re-stretches when dry. I doubt doing these things hurt the cord, just an uneccesary step. As for "spooling " it to keep out of the way while working,,,i just roll it up around my elbow/hand, fold that in half and tie it off. Untie and take what you need and retie. Very simple. Very cool weave on this sling! Im going to try this weave but wider.
Thanks for a great instructable. Built a sling yesterday with Woodland DPM paracord and used it straight away. Worked a treat!
Decided to make a new sling for my shotgun before treking through the woods looking for a turkey... Thanks for the instructable!
Very nice. Glad someone posted a pic of one done.
Thanks for the sweet sling =) I'm adding one onto my Marlin xt-22 bolt. I was wondering if you knew of a braid that would allow me to store ammunition along the outside of the sling as well?
how wide are the swivels you used? 1.5"?
I used a 1" swivel
i cant download the pdf to it
hate to say it, but you need a pro account to do the pdf thing.
DO you know how long it ended up being all together?
This is great, thanks for showing me how to do this. I will be making one for my shotgun!
isnt it also good to always boil paracord and shrink it down a little bit for outdoor things so if it gets wet when you are hunting or whatever it wont shrink up all weird and get distorted looking?
I shower with my paracord bracelets and they have not shrunk or distorted.
Nice Work!
Couldn't this be done pretty easily with one continuous length of cord? Once you make the runners between your two swivels, just continue using the same length of cord starting from one end. This minimizes potential weak points, I think.
about how long was your sling when you was all said and done and whats the typical length of a sling anyways.
how much cordage did you use for the weave and how long did it take for this pattern?
It takes about 80' (Step 1) but start with a 100' roll so you don't run out. Took me about 2 hours.
i made it with white paracord and dyed it black so there is not so much contrast while hunting...its drying now ill post pictures when its done. thanks for a great instructable!!!
thanks for an awesome write up, just made one with tan inside strings and multicam camo weave.
Can you post pics so we can see?
If anyone has done this project and has pics, please link or post in the comments. Would be nice to have a few different ideas for colors. Thanks
thanks for this but damn this take for ever to make lol
I made one with a king cobra stitch which I think is easier than weaving, but it took me 4 and some hours today and I have the worst back ache ever. But this thing looks awesome!
wow sometimes you feel like a retard nice 10/22 thats what my buddy has the 702 and 10/22 look very similar at first glance haha my bad
Did you just randomly wrap the runners around the loop? I don't know anything about weaving with paracord, or anything, really, and I really want to make your rifle sling.
Hey James, This may help.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ByYj5G4-Hc&feature=related
Yeah, that did help, thanks.
i made a sling for one of my Digger friends serving in Afghanistan, in coyote brown, with the "Solomon Bar" as seen in a lot of survival bracelets. He was going to fit it to his AUStyer, and as i've heard from him since, I guess its either working well, or he isnt using it. It did give him a load of cordage to have on hand if needed however, so either way, im pleased.
This one is a little better on how to start... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrMACtyW7Xo&feature=related
nice instructable but how did you make that giant spool thing
