Introduction: Paracord Water Bottle Holder

This instructable is to show you how to make a wrist strap to hold your Nalgene or similar water bottle. (My First Instructable)

Step 1:

Start by measuring the length of the strap that you want by taking a piece of paracord and looping it around the top of the bottle just below the lip of where the cap goes on. As shown. I used about 2 1/2 ft. of #325 cord. Allowing a little extra for the loop where the snap (or whatever you want to use) can be attached.

Step 2:

I used a cobra weave on this project. Mark on the first piece how much paracord it takes going around the bottle neck before starting the weave. Then take a new piece about 6 1/2 ft. and start the weave on the first piece. Because we are using two pieces of cord you can adjust the weave if needed. Also you can leave the cord around the bottle if you prefer.
Start by making a simple knot, making sure both side are even lengths, then take the left side behind the cord that is going around the bottles neck. Now take the right side going under or behind the left piece, then go over the (in this case) green piece and through the loop on the other side. Now pull both sides till they are tight at the top. So now your are going to repeat it going from the opposite direction. Taking the right side and go behind the green making a loop, and then take the left side go behind the piece coming from the right, then go over the green and through the loop. Bringing it tight against the previous weave. Keep doing this till you get about 3" from the bottom.

Step 3:

Now it is time to add your loop for the snap, clip, or whatever you are going to use. I made a loop then added a weave or two over it. you can just tuck it in if you wish. Cut the excess off, then take a lighter and singe the ends to hold it in place. Sometimes I also use a little super glue as well. To finish the weave I took the ends and tucked them on the opposite side of the strap and did the same thing to finish them off.
Add your desired snap, attach it to the top of your wrist strap where it loops around the bottle and you are ready to go!
Any comments on how to explain this better are welcome. Thanks!
