Introduction: Parkrun Throughout the World

About: I Love Making Stuff !!

Parkrun organise free, weekly Saturday, 5km timed runs around the world. At start of 2017 there were just over a 1,000 parkrun events spread across the world. We even took part in an event on our honeymoon in Singapore. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in.

Every time we go on Holiday we look up to see if there is an event close to us, which we can take part in. Parkrun is for all ages and abilities and its completely free! Even my dad takes part and his retired!

Step 1: Register Up for a Barcode

All you need to do is register for a barcode. They will use this to record your running time. You must take this to the event.

Visit the parkrun website and choose your country. Click register and fill out the form.

Step 2: Your Barcode

You will now have an account and your own barcode. Print this off and find your local event by using the event tab at the top of the Parkrun page.

Step 3: Run or Walk

Go along to your local event. Make sure you take your barcode with you. In the UK Parkrun starts at 9:00am on Saturday but best check on the listing of your local parkrun website.

Listen carefully to the run briefing which will tell you what to do.

Step 4: Using Your Barcode

When you finish the run you will be handed another barcode. Take this barcode along with your barcode to scanners, they will scan these for you.

This will link your run time to your name and you should later receive a text message and a email with your time.

Its very easy and rewarding.

Since running parkrun every Saturday I have ran over 40 events and my fitness has increased almost halving my time to do the event. It’s a fantastic community and it’s a great way to start your weekend.

Try it, you will never regret it. Great free fitness event, even to do on holiday !!

It's always nice to volunteer to marshall as all these events and they are all manned by volunteers. Over 235,000 volunteers help run these events so if you find yourself not a runner and just want to get out doors. Every event will be more than happy to accommodate you. You will also get credit for this to so register for your barcode !
