Soon it will be my boyfriend's birthday! The choice of his present was not so difficult, since he is really mad of Star Wars (unfortunately for me that I don't like it at all)! I was thinking to get him some T-shirt, DVD or book related to that movie, but then I realized that he would appreciate much more a present done by self, so... easy! Why don't I make a pair of cufflinks that remind of his favorite movie :) After a bit of thinking, I decided to make the cufflinks using the Jedi Order symbol: it contains two open wings and what looks like a shining light in the middle.

Now I explain you how I processed.

Step 1: What Do You Need

Here the materials I've used to make the personalized cufflinks:

16 mm square silver plated cufflinks blanks + glass domes
PVA craft glue
Scissors
Paint brush
Picture of Jedi Star symbol printed on a A4 paper (dim 1.5cm x 1.5 cm)

Step 2: Let's Start

To start the project cut out the picture from the A4 paper and place a small dot of glue on the picture. With the help of a paint brush, spread the glue evenly across the picture and quickly push one glass dome into the glue. Repeat the same process with the other picture and glass tile. Let them dry for a couple of hours, or let them sit overnight to make sure the glue is properly dry. You understand the glue is dry when the picture is clearly visible through the glass and there isn't any "foggy" effect.

With the scissors cut out the square glasses off the paper. I tried to trim them as close as possible.

Step 3: Assemble the Cufflinks

The last step consists in gluing the tile to the cufflink blank. To do that place a small dot of glue on the inside of one cufflink blank and evenly distribute it with a paint brush. Press the glass tile into the cufflink blank (if glue squeezes out while pressing, wipe it off: the glue will dry 100% clear) . Repeat the process with the other cufflink blank.

Let these dry for at least 4 hours (or overnight). I've put them on a heater in order to make them dry faster!

The cufflinks are ready to be given to my boyfriend for his birthday now!! I am sure he will like them and will be very surprised (hoping that he hasn't read my Instructables project yet :) )
