Step 1: Materials

Materials.jpg
Incandescent Bulb (In any size or color that you want).
Sticker Letters* or, markers (that will adhere to glass).
Embellishments to decorate bulb (snowflakes, gems, stickers etc.)
Decorative Cord/String or Ribbon (In coordinating colors. Metallic cord is preferred, but not required).
String or fishing line (For hanging ornament).
Scissors
Glue (Only required for NON-adhesive embellishments. Must adhere to glass and dry clear).
Paintbrush, optional (to apply glue if used)
Masking Tape, optional (if you want a temporary reference line when spelling out name).

You have a lot of flexibility in decorating your ornaments and in the colors you select in bulbs.
Have fun with it!

Tip: Instead of sticker type letters, you could use markers. Just ensure they will work with glass.

Note*: Sticker letters (and other embellishments) are available at many retailers, craft stores and dollar discount stores. Don't buy letters that are too big. Make sure the name(s) will fit.

Beautiful! I guess I will be hanging on to all my old light bulbs and creating baubles. I will never have to buy another bauble again......especially as bulbs come in so many shapes and sizes. Well done!

Thank you. I was actually inspired to make these because of the change to LEDs. I think most people have boxes and boxes of these old bulbs in their garage or attic, and they are still pretty and can have a place on the tree. Plus I think they make a quick and easy upcycle gift. :-)

This Xmas whimsey

Created by a shiny mind.
An ornament of molten sand.
Red glass of translucent kind
Encircled by a shiny brass band.

Thoughtful comments are so hard to find.
Having busy lives we don't always take the time.
Appreciated they are, for the time that they took.
Not to be forgotten,
Kindness should never be overlooked.
You are truly a gem and
One of a kind.
Uplifting the spirit, you shine like a new dime.

This is a clever idea! I love the red! Thanks for sharing. I liked the shape of it and the snow flakes.

Thanks sunshiine. I was trying to figure out a way to recycle all those old Christmas bulbs and realized they would make nice ornament gifts when you put the recipients name on it.
