Whenever I see a guy with his wallet on a chain I figure that there's a pretty good chance he has something else in another pocket.

They sell these already and they don't require you to carry you're money around in an altoids tin. If you don't mind going into such places you can even get various stylishly embellished ones at places such as Hot Topic and Spencer's. Wallet chains and similar devices have probably been around almost but not quite as long as money. How long could it have been after someone first had his pocket picked that someone said, "you know, this wouldn't have happened if it had been attached using a chain or something."

I've always wanted to make some kind of electro-shock device to shock or stun tresspassors, and then just walk around a busy area in a big city and see who gets the pickpocket surprise.

Or you could just carry your wallet in your front pocket.

Yeah, but you look like a fool when you fish out your wallet on the end of a long chain from your pocket.

I just had a guy come in my grocery store who was using one of these. Only he used his wallet instead of an Altoids tin.

I always have mine in the front. I don't like having stuff in my back pockets anyway.

Well, what if you want to buy something... you have to reconstruct evrything? A better way to prevent from pickpocket: always wear a scorpion in your pocket!

Doesnt this just make it easier for someone to steal your money? Opening the tin while you arent looking seams easier than taking a wallet out of a pocket.

Put a rubber band around your wallet, this makes it harder to pick from pants but not a purse.

This would really benefit from some photos - borrow a camera? I was originally thinking you'd cut the bottom off the pocket and have the tin dangling down the trouser-leg. You pull it up with the chain, but no way could it be picked without you noticing - what do you think of that?
