Introduction: Pie Fries!

A fun way to eat pie! The fries are homemade pie crust cut into the shapes of fries and seasoned with cinnamon sugar. Pair it with any filling to dip them in. Delicious! Hope you enjoy~

Step 1: Ingredients!

For the Pie Dough:
2 1/2 Cups of Flour
1 Tablespoon Sugar
1 Teaspoon Salt
1 Cup of Unsalted Butter, Cold
1 Cup Ice Cold Water

For the Topping:
1/4 Cup Melted Unsalted Butter
1/2 Cup Cinnamon Sugar

For the Whip Cream:
1 Cup Heavy Whipping Cream
2 Tablespoon Powdered Sugar
1 Teaspoon Vanilla

For the Strawberry Filling:
1 Pound of Fresh, Cleaned Strawberries
1 Cup Sugar
1 Cup Water
3 Tablespoons Cornstarch
1-2 Tablespoons Corn Syrup

Note: You can use any filling you want with these, I just happened to use a red filling to mimic ketchup.

Step 2: Preparing Ingredients!

First, sift together the flour, sugar, and salt into a large bowl and cut the cold butter into small cubes.

Step 3: Combining Ingredients!

Combine the cut butter with the sifted flour, salt, and sugar.
Do this by using either a pastry blender or a fork, cutting the butter into the flour until it is evenly distributed.

Step 4: Adding the Water.

After the butter is combined with the flour, add 1/2 a cup of cold water and mix.
Add another 1/4 a cup of cold water and continue mixing until dough begins to form and hold it's shape.
This may take another 1/4 cup of cold water depending on factors such as where you live or how much moisture is in the air.

Step 5: Kneading the Dough.

When the dough has started forming, start kneading it lightly to ensure the ingredients are fully combined.
Wrap the dough in saran and refrigerate for a half hour.

Step 6: Whip Cream.

In the meantime you can make the whip cream and filling of your choice.
To make the whip cream, combine the powdered sugar, vanilla, and heavy whipping cream in a small bowl and use a beater or whisk to mix it until stiff peaks form.
Store in a container and refrigerate until needed.

Step 7: Strawberry Filling.

To make the strawberry filling, cut the strawberries into the desired size, though smaller cuts work better for dipping.
In a small sauce pan, combine your cut strawberries with your sugar, half the cup of water, and corn syrup.
Set on medium to medium-high heat and bring to a simmer.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the corn starch and the other half cup of water until combined.
Add the corn starch to the strawberry mixture and keep on simmer for about 10 minutes or until you mixture begins to thicken.
Take off the heat and put in a container to chill in the fridge.

Step 8: Rolling the Dough.

After the dough has chilled, unwrap it and divide it into 2 equal pieces to make it easier to roll out. This will help to keep the pie crust tender. The more times pie dough is rolled out, the tougher it gets.
Roll out one of the pieces.

Step 9: Cutting the Fries.

Cut out various sizes of fries from the pie crust dough and place them on a greased pan.

Step 10: Seasoning the Fries.

Take the butter set aside for the topping and melt it.
Brush the pie crust fries with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
Then place them in the oven preheated to 375 degrees to bake for 10-15 minutes until golden brown.

Step 11: Finishing Touches.

Let the pie crust fries cool and then serve them up on a plate with your favorite pie filling and some whip cream!
