Introduction: Pimped-Out Pencil & Photo Holder

This modern looking marvel is both functional and fashionable, and it's super-easy to make! This project will only take a minute - unless of course you're trying to avoid doing actual work at the office, in which case you can spend hours looking through photos to find just the right ones to display...

Step 1: Raid the Office Supply Room

You will need 8 medium size binder clips (measuring the black metal clip, the ones I used were 1 and a quarter inches wide)and 4 rubberbands. That's it.

Though if I were you I'd grab a handful of those fancy, expensive pens while at it...

Step 2: Arrange the Clips

Take the 8 clips and pull the metal handles back, so they rest on the black metal clip (as shown). Now on their sides, arrange them into a circle. The shape will look more like a flower, and may not be a 'perfect' circle, but get as close to it as you can.

Step 3: Slap It All Together

In order to enforce the shape and provide stability to the holder, you're going to need to bring in rubberbands. No need for duct tape here! ;)

With your flower-looking shape laid-out and ready, take two rubberbands (two is always better then one...) and stretch them out between four fingers, as shown. You want to make sure to stretch them out larger then the circumference of the clips. This will allow you to drop them down, over the black clips in one smooth motion. You want to be able to quickly release the rubberbands so they contact the clips at once - other wise your shape will not stay in tact.

Now carefully flip it. Take the remaining two rubberbands and reinforce this side as well.

Step 4: Add Pencils and Pens

Uh, this one's pretty simple... I filled mine with matching black pencils for a modern, minimal look, but it'd probably look great with different colors too. :)

Step 5: Add Photos

Time for the creative fun! Placing them in between the hands of silver metal, add photos, postcards, notes - whatever you'd like.

Step 6: Show It Off

That's it, you're done! Place this amazing pen/photo holder someplace where fellow coworkers can pass by and compliment you on your skills.

Oh, and if anyone asks, you brought those office supplies from home. Coughcough.
