Introduction: Pin Earrings

About: You will not find one specific thing being made by me. I make a wide range of things. Ross

These earrings are another of my small collection I am working on. This collection being instantly recognisable, simple earrings made from recycled materials. These earrings are made from coloured push pins. What I believe makes these earrings extra awesome is that when worn it looks like you have pins through your ears.

After giving these to a friend at school, through out the day, all she was asked was " Do you have pins in your ears? That's so unhygenic!" (She was asked this around fifteen times in a few hours).

Step 1: What You Will Need

You Will Need:
Earring Posts and Backs- I use 4mm but 6mm would probably be better
Some Means of Cutting and Filing Down the Pointed Bit- I used a multi-tool, leatherman type thing.
Some Means of Sticking The Post to the Pin- I used a glue gun and hot glue
2 Coloured Push Pins- Green for me

Step 2: Preparing the Pin

As shown in the first picture you want to cut the pointy, metal piece down as low as you can.
Then, as in picture two, file down the metal piece until it is totally level with the plastic.
Clean away dust and make sure the pin looks good.

Step 3: Attaching the Post to the Pin

Attaching
Place a small amount of glue where the metal piece is/was like in picture one.
If using hot glue push the post down with quite a bit of force into the glue making the flat part of the post sit flat against the pin like in picture two.
Allow adequate drying time.
Removing Excess Glue
To remove excess got glue I cut a line from the edge of the post to the edge of the glue then peel it off.
It should all come off in one go.

Step 4: Finished

You have now finished your pair of instantly recognisable earrings.

I would love to see other colours commented.

If you need any extra help, message or comment , and I will be happy to oblige

Thanks

Ross
