Step 6 Front to shoulder section

Pinning the pieces together prior to sewing was especially important at this point to ensure that the collar ended up just how I wanted it.  I positioned the front piece over the shoulder section with the good sides together, and pinned the outside edges together first.  I then pinned my way towards the center and let both sides of the collar fall naturally in place.

Once pinned, the front piece was sewn to the shoulder section in the same manner as the back piece.
