Introduction: Pizzadillas - Perfect Pizza Quesadilla for Super Bowl

About: I am powered by sugar and rainbows! For realz!
This is a great Super Bowl snack for those who don't want to go all out Pizza or aren't sure they want to put the time in to make Pizza Rolls.  I also had leftovers from the Pizza Rolls and wanted to find something fun to make with them, so the pizzadilla, or pizza quesadilla was formed!

Ingredients*:
  • Tortillas
  • Mozzarella Cheese
  • Toppings of choice - I used pepperoni and turkey sausage (the sausage was just awesome in the quesadilla)
  • Pizza dipping sauce
Other Supplies: * Please use the ingredients you want.  This is just what I used and not set in stone :)

Directions:
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Lay out a tortilla
  • Top with cheese - your toppings - more cheese (the additional cheese helps hold the tortilla together.
  • Cover with another tortilla
  • Put in oven and either bake for 10 minutes or bake for 5, flip and bake for 5 more.  I did the flip method.
  • Heat up some pizza sauce
  • Cut up your pizzadilla as you wish and enjoy!
That's it!  You can put the sauce in the pizzadilla beforehand if you want, but I think it's fun to dip it.  Then you can get as much or as little as you want!

I've been making these for years and I have two tips that might help. First, throw the pepperoni on a plate and quickly microwave them for a minute or quickly broil them to get all that excess grease out of them and drain it off. Also makes them taste like they went through a pizza oven! Also, for those in a hurry, throw a thin layer of the sauce inside instead and two minutes in the microwave is perfect. It doesn't get the awesome charred bits and such, but definitely makes it safer so the kids can make their own.

Looks delicious.. I make these all the time but without the sausage.
If I may add a hint. If you're making just a few of these and don't want to heat the oven, if you have a George Foreman grill, you can fold the tortilla in half (if it's a small grill) put it in the how grill (opened edge side up of course) and when heated you get the cool grill marks and it doesn't dry up the tortillas edge like the oven does. =)

I've always flopped them right on the stove heating element while wiggling them around a little so they don't stick. You gotta get that tiny amount of almost burnt patches to get the real flavor!

Of course, I actually have had someone refuse to eat them prepared this way, spouting ballyhoo about sanitation or some other myth.

That sounds like a good idea too! When I went to do this I was looking up the best way to make quesadillas and I usually saw frying it in a pan or baking it in the oven and went with the oven because it sounded simple. We do have a forman so I think I'll try that next time :)

I also wrap them like a burrito then put them on the Foreman grill also If you want a salty crust brush it with some butter before heating it. Yummy..=)
