THIS IS A SIMPLE AND EASY PLANT STARTING STAND MADE FROM PVC PIPE. WHAT MAKES THIS STAND IS THE COST TO BUILD IT. ALL PARTS CAN BE PURCHASED AT A BIG BOX STORE AND THE COST IS WAY CHEAPER THEN THE COMMERCIAL TYPE FOUND IN SEED CATALOGS.

THE STAND SHOWN IN THE PICS IS A 3 TIER WHICH CAN HANDLE 6 TRAYS OF PLANTS WITH EACH TRAY HOLING AS MANY AS 48 PLANTS. THE NICE THING ABOUT THIS STAND IS THAT IT CAN BE DISASSEMBLED WHEN NO LONGER NEEDED, JUST REMEMBER NOT TO GLUE THE PARTS TOGETHER.

ANOTHER NICE THING ABOUT THIS STAND IS THAT YOU CAN MAKE IT A 1, 2 OR THREE TIER DEPENDING ON YOUR NEEDS. THE TOTAL COST OF THE ONE SHOWN IS ABOUT $150.00 COMPARED TO A COMMERCIAL STAND WHICH WOULD COST YOU UPWARDS OF $700.00.

LIST OF PARTS NEEDED FOR A 3 TIER STAND;ALL PVC PARTS ARE 1 INCH

(8) CROSSES (8) TEES (16) ELBOWS (50 FEET OF PIPE) THATS (5) LENGTHS.

4 PIECES PARTICLE BOARD OR PLYWOOD SHELVING (4 FEET LONG X15 INCHES WIDE X 3/4 INCH THICK. THE FOURTH PIECE OF SHELVING IS USED ON TOP TO HOLD SUPPLIES, ECT.

(6) TWO BULB X 4 FOOT LONG FLORESENT SHOP FIXTURES PLUS BULBS. I HAVE FOUND REGULAR BULBS WORK JUST FINE YOU DONT NEED THE MORE EXPENSIVE GROW LIGHTS. YOU WILL ALSO NEED SCREW EYES AND S HOOKS TO MOUNT THE SHOP LIGHTS. THE SCREW EYES I USE ARE 3/16 INCH SO THE HOLES I DRILL FOR MOUNTING ARE 3/32 INCH. THE ONLY TOOLS YOU WILL NEED ARE A DRILL AND A MITER SAW. THE MITER SAW IS NEEDED TO CUT ALL THE PIPE TO EXACT LENGTHS.SINCE STARTING SEEDS NEED LIGHT FOR 16 HOURS A DAY I WOULD RECOMMEND A TIMER AND LIGHT STRIP TO PLUG IN THE LAMPS. I HOPE YOU FIND THIS SIMPLE STAND TO YOUR LIKING.

IF YOU ARE JUST GETTING STARTED IN THIS HOBBY YOU MIGHT WANT TO READ SOME BOOKS OR GOOGLE TO FIND OUT EXACTLY HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL AT STARTING PLANTS FROM SEED. I LIVE JUST SOUTH OF CHICAGO AND I START MY SEEDS AROUND THE END OF MARCH OR BEGINNING OF APRIL. IT TAKES FROM 6 TO 8 WEEKS FOR MANY PLANTS TO BE READY FOR PLANTING OUTSIDE.

JUST REMEMBER THAT THE LIGHTS MUST BE KEPT RIGHT ON TOP OF THE PLANTS AS THEY GROW THIS PRODUCES STRONG THICK STEMS.

THANKS
