Plastic bottle lamp stand

Plastic bottle lamp stand
I smile every time I see this lamp. It gives a disproportionate sense of accomplishment for such an easy project. It only took a few minutes to do.

To make it you need:

1 plastic bottle

1 lamp shade

The guts of a lamp (socket, cord, etc)

Knife, sissors, cone-head or other pointy thing

Step 1Find a pretty bottle

Find a pretty bottle
Get a pretty bottle. I used an old lemon juice container. It was green and had some interesting crystal-y shapes near the top, making it look less like trash and more like a lamp before ever my loving hands touched it. I've also thought a Dasani water bottle would be pretty for this project, but I didn't have one.

Take the label off and wash the bottle. Dry it thoroughly.

Cool idea for a reuse! Something of a Art Deco appeal... or pop art.. im not sure which...
Jan 13, 2009. 10:57 AMKentsOkay says:
it does indeed give it, if one could find a glass looking lamp shade it would definetly make it look even better. OR maybe tissue paper glued to the shade?
Jan 14, 2009. 6:36 AMjessyratfink says:
I second the tissue paper idea because the base looks great but that shade is pretty plain looking. :)
Jan 13, 2009. 11:41 AMKentsOkay says:
Aye, elmer's glue tissue paper into it, in a sorta stained glass style...
