Introduction: Plastic Bottles and More Plastic Bottles!

You will save 85 plastic bottles from your backyard / landfill and create a stunning floor and hanging lamp. You will store all the left overs from making this inside the big water bottle which will defuse the CFL lightbulb thus creating no waste!

Step 1: What Do You Need?

84 plastic bottles (go for the bottles with the same size head) 1 big water bottle (Kentwood) coat hanger, 2 zip ties, 1 lamp cord, 1 lamp socket, 1 CFL lightbulb, masking tape, dremel with a cut off wheel and small drill bit (size for the coat hanger wire) , marker pen, hot glue gun, sand paper, bbq grill wire cleaner brush, bucket (for the left over water from the bottles) drill with a 1 flat wood bit. Safety goggles. Wire snippers.

Step 2: Top Off!

Take the top off.

Step 3: Hole for the Light Bulb.

Mark a hole for the light bulb to fit through, Unless you can get it through the top of the water bottle.

Step 4: Hole for the Lightbulb

PUT THE SAFTY GOGGLES ON! Use the dremel with the cut of wheel and make the hole.

Step 5: How to Hang!

Mark two spots for the hanging hook near the top of the opening. Drill to holes.

Step 6: Make the Hook!

Use the coat hanger and snip.

Step 7: Shape the Hook.

Bend wire a little so it will not fall out of the hole.

Step 8: Secure Hook.

Place the hook inside the top of the bottle and thread through the holes. (bend the top of the wire around a little also for extra strength.)

Step 9: Template for Holes.

Take a strip of masking tape from the top to the bottom of the bottle and stick it straight.

Step 10: Placement of Bottles

Place the mouth end of a bottle against the tape and see how they look on the tape and mark around the cap. (Try to keep it straight so that the bottle comes straight out and there is room for the next one on all sides)

Step 11: Center of the Hole.

Find the center of the hole marks and mark.

Step 12: Drill Small Hole to Mark.

Use a small drill bit to drill the center of the holes.

Step 13: Mark the Rest of the Holes.

Place the tape on the other side of the bottle, opposite the last row and use a marker to mark the drill hole. ( you have a hole in the tape now, no need to drill)

Step 14: Drill Holes!

Use a 1 flat wood bit and drill. Do the 2 rows and stop.

Step 15: New Rows.

Use 2 bottles side by side to find out the space required for the next row and stick the tape in place. Mark the holes and do the same all over, make sure that you check the spaces with the bottles so that you have room for them in place. Drill away.

Step 16: Its Up to You!

If you wont to! As this is going to be a lamp I'm going to sand the outside of the bottle with sand paper and/or a grill wire scraper , just to defues the light a little. You may need to go over some of the holes also.

Step 17: Take Label Of!!

Take the label of the bottle and roll up. Use a bucket to save the water from the bottles.

Step 18: Insert Label

Insert label into bottle. Drop bottle cap into hole for the light bulb, this will help to defuse the lightbulb.

Step 19: Insert Bottles Into Holes.

screw bottles into holes.

Step 20: Connect Lampwire to Lampsocket.

Connect the neutral (ribbed pattern wire to the outer/ silver looking screw, ) and the live to the inner part of the socket .

Step 21: Hot Glue Connection Screws!

Place some hot glue over the screws so you don't get shocked!

Step 22: Insert Lightbulb & Socket Into Bottle.

Place lamp socket in the bottle opening, screw CFL bulb in (use hole near opening) Secure lamp wire to hook with the zip ties.

Step 23: Done, Almost.

Step 24: Hang, Plug in and Turn On!

You can also use it as a floor or table lamp.Enjoy!
