I am always on the lookout for new ways to repurpose plastic bottles and have plenty of projects on Home-Dzine.co.za to share. One of my favourites is to use the bottom of a plastic 2-litre bottle for making herb name tags.

Step 1: Cut the Bottle

Use a sharp craft knife to cut off the bottom of your 2-litre bottle. Most plastic bottles have the same basic shape, so you can also use 1-litre bottles or other bottles as well.

Step 2: Make Hole for Support

Use a small drill bit to make a hole for the support or stick. For my project I am also repurposing plastic straws, but you can use twigs or small branches, wood skewers, or anything else that might be suitable for supporting the name tag.

Step 3: Attach Support

Apply a small blob of epoxy glue to secure the support stick to the back of the plastic base, threading it through the drilled hole. Superglue also works well but I find that epoxy glue is more secure and stays stuck for longer!

Step 4: Spray Paint

Grab a can or three of your favourite Rust-Oleum 2X spray colour and spray the herb name tags. I used a fineline permanent marker to write the names of the herbs onto the front of the flower.

As easy as that!
