Introduction: Playing You Tube Videos on a PS3 Using an IPhone.
In these instructions I will walk you through a step by step process of setting up your iPhone and PS3 to play YouTube videos on your TV through your PS3 by using your iPhone to search and choose the videos. The supplies needed are listed below.
Step 1: Create PS3 Profile
Assuming that you have your wireless internet installed and working, your PS3 connected to your TV properly and all other supplies you can begin. The first step is to create a profile on the PS3. To do this, select the “create new user” icon under the “users” tab using the left joystick and X button. Second, type in your desired user name and click OK. Then select your user profile.
Step 2: Connecting PS3 to Wireless Internet
Slide over to the “settings” icon and scroll to the bottom until you reach the “network settings” icon and select the icon. Then scroll down to the “Internet Connection Settings” tab and select the icon. Press Ok, the select easy, then wireless, then scan. Select your wireless internet, scroll right and select the correct security setting, if there is a WPA Key, type it in then press the X button to save settings and then press the X button again to Test the Connection.
Step 3: Open PlayStation Store
Scroll over to the “PlayStation Network” tab using the left stick, then scroll down to the “PlayStation Store” icon and press the X button to open the store.
Step 4: Finding Youtube App in Store
In the PlayStation Store Menu, navigate to the “Search” icon in the top right hand corner of the screen. Select the “Search” icon, and enter Youtube into the search bar, press start then select search. Scroll down to the item “YouTube for PS3”, and press the X button to select it.
Step 5: Downloading You Tube App
After the app is selected press the “download” tab. Press the X button to initiate the download. Press the X button once again to install the app once the app is downloaded. Once the app is downloaded exit the PlayStation Store.
Step 6: Connecting IPhone to Wireless Internet
To connect your iPhone to the corresponding wireless internet first go to the settings app on your iPhone. Then select the Wi-Fi tab followed by selecting the correct network, if there is a password, enter it otherwise continue. Make sure iPhone connects to the wireless internet before proceeding.
Step 7: Install You Tube App on IPhone
From home screen of iPhone, find the App Store app and open it, in the App Store, use the search tab on the bottom of the screen to search “youtube”. Click the free icon next to the You Tube logo then click the green Install App button. Then enter your Apple ID Password for your Apple ID to initiate the download.
Step 8: Opening You Tube App on PS3
Scroll to the “TV/Video Services” icon. Then scroll down to the “YouTube” icon which should appear if installed correctly. Open the app by pressing the X button when the icon is selected.
Step 9: Getting Connection Number
Using the left stick scroll up or down the left side until you reach the “Search” icon. Then press the “Search” square using the X button. A screen with a search bar on top should appear with an iPhone symbol with two headers, one that says “Go To” and the other that says “Enter.” Under the “Enter” header there should be a 9 digit number. This is the number that will be used to connect the iPhone
Step 10: Adding PS3 to MyTV on IPhone
To connect the iPhone with the PS3 the first step is to open the YouTube App on the home screen of your iPhone. After the App is opened, click on the “My TV” button located on the left side of the screen. Then select the “Add You Tube TV” button from the “Play On” drop down. Then enter the corresponding number that was displayed in the “Search” square screen on the PS3.
Step 11: Finding Videos on IPhone
After the iPhone and PS3 are connected, videos can be played using any of the YouTube App’s options from the options button in the top right corner. The most commonly used is the search button which is located in the top right corner of the app’s home screen. This allows for you, the user to search for anything you can come up with.
